Uncomfortable shoulder straps for women.

This is a good bag except for the shoulder strap that dug into my chest. I compared the shoulder straps to my Mindshift bag and the Mindshift straps are designed in a more curved manner and are comfortable. I did want to like this bag, but the straps really hurt the sides of my chest, so I'm returning it.

Love this backpack

Perfect for every day use. Durable and excellent organization. After a year or so of abuse, it’s like new.

Best backpack for small people

The fact it included an accessories/chargers/electronics case that fits nicely in the slot was also a big deal. It’s SO much easier pulling all your cables out at once. This was included and dropped the actual bag price to about 210 if we’re calculating actual cost of bag. The rain fly is also great addition you don’t have to pay extra so we’ll bring the bag price down to about 175. That alone beats a lot of their competitors. By competitors I mean Peak designs edc backpack and I was also looking at boundary supply Prima. My backpack is loaded with one medium tripod, one small tripod, and one gorilla pod. (The last two are actually INSIDE my backpack). It also currently has one MBP, iPad Pro, Sony A6000, two lenses, large mouse, sunglasses, small camera accs. And other knick knacks. I was currently using a NorthFace backpack to carry all my stuff but it just kept getting bloated and bloated, it looked like a hot mess. This keeps it all in place, in shape, and compact

Good design, horrible bottle holders

First, the pros: asthetically pleasing design. Looks like a 'normal' backpack and doesn't scream "I have expensive equipment in this bag!". I love the gray coloring and customization afforded by the interior scaffolding system. Cons: the side bottle holders are completely useless. You can't fit a soda can inside with risking it'll pop out with a upwards bump. Anything wider than that will not stay. The bottom of the bottle slots shouldn't have been sewn to the backpack but instead able to be to expanded outwards with a bungie cord of sorts. It looks nice, but has no use for cylindrical objects. I like this bag a great deal, but the bottle holders really limits the utility if out shooting for a few hours.

A swing and a miss! Why I returned this bag.

When I first saw this bag online, I really thought I had found the perfect camera backpack. It seemed to have all the best things of the Peak Design EDB, but improve on all the EDB's short comings. Unfortunately, when I received the bag yesterday, it took me all of 15 minutes to know that I would be returning it. Here's why... My main issue with this backpack is the pullout shelf system that they're so proud of. It wastes so much space and adds unnecessary weight. If they would have just lined the bag with loop velcro like Peak Design does, it would have been much better. Don't believe the hype about it being easier to customize the inserts for your gear. It's actually more complicated and time consuming than adjusting the dividers in the EDB. My second issue is the size of the bag. If they would have made it just 2 inches wider and either eliminate the shelf insert, or make it 1-2" deeper, your gear would come in and out much easier. But the way it's currently sized, taking your gear in and out is a pain because of how tight everything is. And this is before adding a laptop. Once you add your laptop in the back, forget it. Things get so tight, you almost need to pry your camera out with your fingers. And I don't have a huge camera with a grip. I've got a an EOS R which is on the smaller side of any full frame camera. Can't imagine what pulling out a big pro rig would be like. Another major area Lowepro dropped the ball was with the top opening. The opening on the Peak Design EDB is my biggest complaint about that bag. So when I saw this bag, I thought, finally! But unfortunately the top opening on the Freeline is so small and so stiff, it barely opens wide enough to get your hand in there. I mean, how the hell did that opening pass any kind of pre-production inspection?!? It's so small it's absurd. Also annoying is the issue of the pockets...or lack there of. The bag is so stiff that all the pockets are just there for show. They're way too tight and small to put anything other than maybe business cards or a lens cloth in. The phone pocket on the shoulder strap is stupid. It barely fits a larger iPhone, and there's no way to take it off. Why not just include a detachable phone holder or not include one at all? Why the hell would you force such a useless little gimmick on an area that should look clean and unencumbered? I like having my Peak Design Capture clip on my left shoulder strap, but because of the stupid pocket, you have to have it on the right only. Lastly, there's the issue of the sternum strap. There is no way to remove it and no way to stow it when not in use. So you either have to use it, or you will have an annoying strap with a metal clip just dangling there and banging into you the whole time you're walking. Why not just make it removable like the straps on the front of the pack? So dumb! On the plus side, it seems to be well constructed I think it looks cool. Certainly better than the Peak Design EDB. I also like the material better, although it's a little on the shiny side. Alas, the search for the perfect camera backpack continues. If only Peak Design would make a bag that looks like their Travel Line 45L on the outside, but be like the EDB on the inside, and be the same size as the EDB, they'd nail the perfect bag...at least for me.

Much better than I expected

There are very few user reviews out there for this bag, so this purchase was something of a leap of faith for me. The main thing holding me back was the price. Had some credit with Adorama which softened the sting, so I took the plunge. The bag's best feature for me is the ease of access to my gear from the sides. The side panels are nice and large and allow access to multiple compartments. I can pull out a 5D mark IV DSLR with lens attached quickly without any tugging or jostling. The bag feels stable on one shoulder as you access the gear...so you don't have to put the bag down. The bag holds a ton of stuff if you take the time to cleverly organize your gear to maximize space. I was able to squeeze in a 5DM4 DSLR with a 35mm L prime attached and a 24-70 L zoom, an Olympus Pen-F with a lens attached, and a Panasonic G9 with a lens attached (I fit the G9 in the top compartment next to the 24-70). I was also able to fit batteries, memory cards, etc. pretty easily. Also, there is a place on the right strap to attach a Peak Design camera clip, so I also was able to clip on a Fuji X100F. With all that, the side external pockets can hold water bottles and other small items. The bag looks great. The material looks/feels durable and high quality. I love that it isn't big and bulky - a relatively low profile and doesn't stick out far behind your back like a giant turtle shell. It feels comfortable on the shoulders, but I haven't tested it through the course of a day just yet so I can't comment too much here. Overall, a well thought out bag and it definitely won't end up in the back of my closet like countless other bags. The only downsides I found are that Lowepro didn't include enough dividers, so I had to borrow a couple from other bags to keep gear from banging into each other. The chest harness strap is not the easiest thing to connect. The laptop/tablet compartments felt pretty tight after loading the bag with gear. I didn't feel confident jamming in anything bigger than an MS surface pro etc. Was not impressed with the tripod attachment straps, but they do work for small travel tripods so I shouldn't complain given the size of the bag.

Nice High Quality Bag, Weatherproof

I am using this bag for a trip to Japan. It has many of the features of the Peak Designs bag. After using it for a week, the bag is way to heavy, and I have a relatively light Sony A7III with a tiny 35mm 2.8 FE ZA lens. The backpack straps have a thin layer of soft cushion on top of stiffer foam, the straps dig into your shoulders. I like the adjustable shelf design, the dividers are stiff help the bag retain its shape. The small bag for accessories is a great idea to help you organize laptop chargers, extra batteries, cords, etc. With the side access panels, you can swing the bag in front of your body to get a camera out. But it is easy to forget to zip it back up. The top section is roomy for odds and ends. But small items can fall down into other compartments, or fall out of bag when you have the side panels open. The two outer pockets for water bottles/umbrellas should have been gusseted to allow more outward expansion. For example, if you have a normal sized 16 oz water bottle, it is thick enough to budge on the inside of the panel, making the pockets on the inside side panels less effective. Plus the bottom on the outside pouches are not gusseted, so the water bottle is straining the fabric. A umbrella fits better than a water bottle. The thin waist belt tucks away behind the back padded panel. But the sternum strap is not removable and there is not lash point to tie down the buckle end to prevent it from flapping about when not in use. I need up tucking it into the cell phone pocket, which I don't use. The fabric is really nice, with the coating on the outside to provide more weatherproofing. All of the zippers are water resistant. The bottom of the bag has two stiff foam bars like railroad tracks that work as feet. The bag is stiff enough to stand upright without flopping over. The laptop and tablet sleeve work well. The front outside pocket can fit credit cards and such, but it should be been thicker, a cell phone is a tight fit in it.

Unique design, good size for one body and 3 lenses

Only used briefly, but seems like a good size. Was looking for a medium size bag better for carrying in crowds and on the plane. works well. Very well made and some new design features.
