I purchased a LBC7042F security camera for my front porch. The camera video is fantastic during daylight hours very clear and wide range but once darkness sets in the video clarity is greatly reduced. If there is light shining onto the area to be viewed this is a great camera to use. If you don't have a good light source during darkness then you might want to try a different Lorex camera.

Nice little camera. Easy to set focus and focal length. Good night vision and resolution. Bought this to replace another brand that was failing. The allen wrench adjustments are easier to make than a turn ring. Almost no overshoot.

I have three of these cameras and have been quite pleased with them. The clarity in the near field is excellent. I found the factory settings for focus and zoom to be the best. When I adjusted the range to increase zoom I lost too much FOV for my application. Trying to get the system back in focus after adjusting the zoom can be a challenge. Make sure you have someone watching the monitor in real time and make the small adjustment or you end up overshooting. Small changes can make a big difference. Set your desired zoom first and then focus. There is a lag in the system so adjust then wait a moment for everything to settle in. Night time fog is an issue. Thin fog reflects the light from the IR LEDs back into the camera and it looks like a fog storm obscuring the view beyond a few feet. If you are in a foggy environment, external lights are important to illuminating the scene any distance from the camera. Be sure not to point the camera too close to the mounting wall or the IR LEDs will illuminate that wall and diminish the view of the remaining scene. The adjustments for pointing the camera are all very easy. The allen wrench works easily to get the camera pointed exactly where you want it. Objects close to the camera will be clearly visible even if they are at the edge of the field of view. Take extra care to get the mounting for the camera set before permanently affixing it. The cables for my system needed extra room to hide inside the wall. Also the wall anchors that come with the system may not be sufficient. The surface material on my walls was too thick and too fragile to permit the anchors to hold the weight of the cameras securely. I ended up getting longer wall anchors that could bite into more solid material underneath. The cameras are a vast improvement over the ones they replaced. Both the day and night vision are excellent. Also one of the cameras I ordered was not what I thought I was getting so after a call to customer service, Lorex swapped it out with another LBC7083 at no charge to me. The replacement camera arrived within a week of the change request. You may have to wait to get hold of customer service, but I found them to be friendly, professional and accommodating. Overall, I am very pleased with the system, its ease of use and customer service. I did a lot of research before buying the system and it seems to have paid off.

Objects close to the camera will be clearly visible even if they are at the edge of the field of view. Mounting this camera is easier than the bullet cameras. You can get the mounting frame completely and security installed before putting the camera on place. The cables for my system needed extra room to hide inside the wall. There is sufficient room within the frame to hide quite a bit of cable. Also the wall anchors that come with the system may not be sufficient.
