I bought one of these a few years ago because of the POE PD feature.I was disappointed to find that an internet connection is required to "unlock" any useful functionality. Once you've done that, make sure you don't do the reset to factory settings because you might find that Netgear support has trouble getting you a new code.  That's just the start. I had two of these fail in exactly the same way (they reboot themselves continuously after power is applied, resulting in lots of flashing light but no functionality of any kind. The replacement unit also failed.

This is a great switch, easy to configure works well.  However, I went to mount it on the wall with the screw slots provided in the back.  Slid the switch on and it stoped working.  Contacted support, turns out that there is a thin plastic cover between the circuit board and where the mounting screw hole is.  The screw likely had a sharp edge and cut though the thin plastic cover and shorted out the switch.   Netgear refuses to help me out so I need to buy a replacement switch.  The Support engineer was actually kinda rude and said I used too much force.  Sad to say, I was going to upgrade my wireless system to a Netgear solution, but now, I'm not buying any more Netgear products.  Their Lifetime warrantee has lots of caveats.   If you have have this product, take extra caution mounting it, they dont have much protection around the mounting holes.   If possible use a plastic screw.

Everything worked well, however it was very hard to change the management vlan like I needed to.  It took me about 3-4 times before I could find the correct combination to make it work correctly.

Setup was a little tough

Solid router with great management options. Bought for link aggregation in a future network upgrade, using as somple switch until then.

Solid switch

This is my second Netgear product.  I use it in my home office and I have a computer, printer, Ooma phone, and Network backup device connected.  Installation was easy.  Highly recommended.

Excellent switch

Purchased this to replace a cheap Gigabit  switch for my home network that wasn't really giving me full speed.  It was easy to setup and manage.  Full speed out of the gate.

This switch is just what i was looking for. this year I have been learning as much as I can about computers. I have a number of devices that Im using in my home. So  I bought a switch to expand my network. Its a managed switch giving me more expansion to my recent education in technology. But simple enough to just plug in and use if want to keep it simple. Great product. Highly recommend!

My First Switch

Simple install and works good.  However, I misread the advertising and thought it had 7 powered POE ports.  It does not.  Fortunately, I was going to be ordering a non-POE switch, so it was not a big deal for me.

I picked up one of these switches recently and it has been great. If you need some interesting features but do not need multigig support, this is a good choice. I am only giving it four stars because there does not seem to be a way to change the administrative user name, or use 2FA, which are both security issues imo.

Great Home Lab Switch

This device is working really well and really easy to use. It is working with my small cluster and my cluster did not get any network failure with this device!

Working well and easy to use

Functionality and Reliability-wise, this unit works great.  It's worked well with any PoE device.  Setting up VLAN is quite simple.  The only reason why I took a star off is because the GUI seems to not work as well with today's browsers AND requires Java.  Requiring Flash or Java simply needs to go - they should make sure they stick with a GUI that can work fine with today's browsers without requirements of the past.  If they are outdated because of this, they should allow a firmware update (perhaps to remedy this problem, simplifying things in the process.  I'd still buy

Reliable Product That Works

Using this to filter multicast storm control. It does the job well, and the sturdy hardware demonstrates the look of a high quality product. The one thing that I do not like and wish would go away, is the need to register the product in order to access most of the features. For most people this is not going to be a big issue, just an annoyance. However, you better hang onto the registration ID or else some years down the road there is a potential to end up with a brick should the switch get a factory reset after Netgear decides they no longer need to support an old obsolete product.

Great inexpensive feature rich switch

Retrofitted my house for Ethernet any used this to connect the different rooms in the basement. Being POE powered, I didn't have to worry about putting power in my crawl space!

Needed a switch with LDAP support and this was priced right. With all 4 ports on my Synology NAS devices  aggregated I have plenty of bandwidth!

Great little managed switch

Great all in one smart switch for those compact areas where control and power are needed! We used this handy 8 port switch to create a private subnet from our existing static network giving us an expanded use for one of our Satelite locations which we didn't have enough IPs for newly installed devices!!  Worked like a charm and cost less than a good lunch!! I would recommend always having one in your kit as I now do!!

Smart Switch!

After I connected the Ethernet cable from the router and other cables from other devices, the network switch was ready for use! If you need to access the switch's management controls, you'll need to get the switch's IP address, which you can get the software that retrieves it from NetGear website.

Ready for Use from the Start

Switch does exactly what it needs to and offers many more features and capabilities if you require more fine control over your network. My only complaint would be that the user interface seems a bit sluggish when managing the switch through a browser. Overall this switch has plenty of throughput and options that make the price point a good value for a solid product.

Good inexpensive managed switch

This is a great little switch for the price.  It has full Layer three capabilities including SVIs and routing between VLANs.  It is GUI only and some of the configuration is quirky.

Great L3 switch for the price

I have 3 servers plus my smart tv plugged into this switch. It has a great GUI that makes it easy to set up. I do IT work so I am very picky when it comes to switches for my home network. I would recommend this switch.
