OtterBox Venture Cooler 45 Quart - Back Trail

The coolers attachment points do not work. Called otter box and they told me I can mail it in for them to look at it, but would be on the hook for finding a box to ship it in. If the cooler coast <$100 I would have been fine with this. But when a ?premium? cooler is manufactured poorly like this it really leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Positives: retains ice well, closes easily. Cons: pricey, not manufactured to function as advertised.

Iced beer down on friday. left it on my patio. when i went to clean it out on wednesday the water was ice cold and so were the beers inside!

Love the cooler but the drain plug is tough to make seal proof. Kept leaking until I wrenched on it with pliers. Now I am not sure if I can get off. Other reviews had same drain plug threading issues.

I won this in an otterbox contest, let me rephrase I saved up a bunch of points over the course of two years to redeem this bad boy. I love it, it is a bit big so not great for trips that involve lots of gear and hiking but for a nice day at the beach or a drive up campground this is great. I could fit a weeks worth of food in there as well as drinks. It comes with a bottle opener too, which was a respectable touch. I will say I got the all white one and after one camping trip it is extremely dirty so beware of that, nothing that a little water and soap can't take care off. We let the ice melt all the way and there was no leaking out of the bottom. Really recommend this. I've owed multiple coolers, including Yeti and this otterbox takes the cake.

I wasn?t sure about spending this much on a cooler, but I don?t regret it at all. I used block ice for an 8 day road trip, and after 2 or 3 restocks with beer and food there was still ice left in the cooler 4 days after we got back. Yep, 12 days, still some ice floating around. It does what it says on the box. The handles do protrude a bit, which might be an issue if you have tight storage in your trunk, but not an issue for our wagon.

I filled the cooler the day it arrived, with half food and half ice...kept ice for 20 days today. I need Ice today and groceries, and no worries now!! Thank you Otter Box for such a quality cooler!

Purchased the Venture 45 Back Trail directly from the Otterbox website on March 18, and promptly received it on March 26. Overall initial impressions were that it is a great looking cooler, well built, and ergonomically designed. Packed the cooler with food/drink and ice for three people for a day's surf fishing in NW Florida. Cooler remained in the back of my truck all day in full sun, 75 degrees, and was only opened once to transfer a few items to a smaller cooler for easier transport down to the beach. Returned home after 12 hours and did not notice any significant reduction in ice. Performance is what I would expect from a cooler in this price category. There are many high end coolers in this price range that I considered when shopping for a cooler. What drew me to this particular cooler were the outstanding reviews this cooler has received, the "modular" design that allows for the attachment/inclusion of multiple accessories, the fact that it is made in the USA, and the "limited lifetime warranty". After I received the cooler and read through the fine print of the warranty booklet, I was greatly disappointed to learn that what Otterbox considers the lifetime of the product is actually just 5 years, which falls short of the true lifetime warranties offered by several other premium cooler companies that also make their products in the USA. I feel this is a little misleading to the consumer, and with what appears to be a very rock-solid cooler, it seems a true lifetime warranty would be fitting for this product line.

I agree the rope handles on a Yeti are not my preference, but throwing it out of a speeding car sold me! I used it over Labor Day weekend, didn't pre-cool the cooler, and still had plenty of ice when I got back. A 20 lbs bag is how much ice I used. The cooler can hold 40 lbs of ice empty. The included food tray was a great addition separating my food and drinks. The included bottle opener is a great accessory as well.

After 7 days and nights of normal outdoor use in the summer with a mix of sun and shade, there is still a remnant of ice, and I am thoroughly content with the way this cooler has performed for my family. Ice started 2/3rds full, keeping dry goods and cans cold and usable, and I expect this cooler to hold up for my family for the next 20 years. If the locking straps ever fail, I know I can go to Otterbox for a replacement because they are a reputable company. May I recommend decking out your new cooler with your favorite stickers? Add some flair to it, because it it’s not going anywhere until it gets stolen or accidentally dropped into the bottom of a lake ?????.

Before buying this I did plenty of comparisons between Yeti, Pelican, and random generic coolers. The last cooler to come onto my radar was the Otterbox cooler. I'm so glad I found it cause it seemed to check all the boxes that I was looking for. I chose the 45 cause I wanted room for drinks and some food for a weekend with my wife. Smaller would be nice for a day or overnight. Bigger would be great for a family. But 45 was perfect for just us two and we didn't need to keep anything besides our beer and a few non-meat perishables cold for a few days. All the brands fit into the same price category, but what was great about the Otterbox is how tall it was and the locking latches. They latch from the bottom so when you're closing the lid, you never worry about getting the latches caught. The height easily allowed for bottles of wine, champagne, or just lots of beer. It comes with a dry rack which was very handy for keeping food cold and crisp, not soggy. Also pair it with some locks and you have a bearproof case for your food! Or for just locking others out from stealing your cold beers while theirs are floating in warm melted ice in a garbage cooler they bought on Amazon for trelve dollars. My parents have a Pelican 30 that they keep on their pontoon for day cruises, and the latches always get in the way. The only downside to the Venture 45 was the quite large side handles. They do make the overall dimensions fairly large, but it makes carrying the cooler much easier and allows for the side table add-on. Another tiny detail is the rubber feet on the bottom. They are almost too sticky and don't allow the cooler to move! It's great. There were plenty of comments from others about how 'I thought they just made phone cases' which still gets me. But don't let that idea fool you. This cooler is bomb and isn't some imported junk.

I've had it for about a month now and I've had to hold ice for about a week with continual use. It's also in the back seat of my truck sitting in the hot vehicle. Didn't get my free tumbler like advertisied but other than that I'm happy with my purchase.

Got my cooler last month. Excited to try it out. The latches make black marked after multiple opened/closed. And the handle are easily scratched.

Bought about a month ago and used it twice since. Both times I had some drips on the floor where the drain plug is. It was a small amount to where I almost think it was condensation build up and dripping onto the floor. No other complaints though. My ice stayed solid for several days. I like the handles are different than the traditional rope style like competitors.

We just took a 5 day camping trip and took two coolers, this Otterbox and a "standard" one. The two bags of ice were melted after two days in the standard one and the Otterbox still had a bag ice left in it two days after we got home...it lasted a week!

5 days later, still had ice and drinks were cold. It also drained very easy, no leaks or issues. With all the coolers on the market, and having owned yeti and Rtic, this cooler is definitely comparable if not better.

We had a house guest that brought one of these to our remote cabin. -4 days later, we still had perfectly intact cocktail ice! While we have seen other brand keep ice, never like this! Purchased the Venture 45 after comparing coolers for some time. I like that it’s made in The greatness country in the world! It is heavy when you get it loaded. Has some cool accessories other coolers don’t offer. I put five frozen water bottles in it on 5/23/20 around 5:00pm along with some beverages from the refrigerator. Bought a ten pound bag of ice on 5/24/20 around 10:00am. With some help, hauled it to the beach and stayed in full sun for six hours(86 degrees). The photo taken was from 5/31/20. Added two cups of ice during this time period(nine days) .I’m in Hot and Humid South Carolina . This is one heavy NICE cooler. I highly recommend it .

Recently went on a 3 day trip and cooler kept raw meat cold all weekend. Not a worry about ice retention. Frequent open/closes as well. This is definitely the best cooler I have owned. Downside is the weight is a bit high
