Everything but the Breathing

You can get a good price on these now that the DSX line is out, and they are worth it for a starting cine set. I've shot with other budget cines before, and these are in line with expectations. The image quality is good, sharpness, etc., and the build quality is great. These are tanks, and weigh half as much. The only drawback is the focus breathing is prominent across the range, and you should plan shots accordingly. A short distance rack, or a snap focus, isn't going to be noticeable, but if you plan on a slow rack from near to infinity it'll perform no better than any crap photo lens. Don't do that shot with this. Otherwise, yes, good value.

This lens fit on my Sony a6300 and is an amazing lens right out of the box. Very nice pull on the focus and I love the aperture ring. No complaints.

This lens fit on my Sony a6300 and is an amazing lens right out of the box. Very nice pull on the focus and I love the aperture ring. No complaints.

The Rokinon 35mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E with geared, manual focus and aperture control rings, is optimized for digital cinematography. The aperture ring has been "de-clicked" for smooth iris pulls and depth of field markings provide an essential aid to focus pullers. Optically, this lens is identical to the Rokinon 35mm f/1.4, which is known for its excellent sharpness and contrast.

Hybrid aspherical lenses and multi-layer coating produce sharply defined images with a minimum of flare and ghosting. There is slight vignetting at T1.5 on a full-frame sensor but it is nearly gone by T2.0 and APS-C or MFT sensors will probably never see it. The 35mm lens focuses as close as 12" (30.48 cm) from the lens.
