Very fast lens. Produces beautiful and tack sharp images. The only drawback is the weight and the lack of VR.

Very heavy. If you aren't used to beefy lenses, your arm may get tired quickly. AF is a bit noisy and a little slow. Overall a sharp lens. Used it on my 80D and never had any issues with it. I have heard of some people having issues with this Lens with the AF missing the shot.

Far exceeded my expectations for a third party lens. You can?t go wrong with a sigma art lens! The quality, build, sharpness, bokeh, and speed is incredible. Autofocus does hunt a little in low-light, but I pushed it to the limit where any lens or camera would struggle using only light from headlights or street lamps in otherwise total darkness. Beyond pleased with this lens and only wish they made this in FX to use with my z6ii. If you have a crop sensor camera and are considering this lens, don?t hesitate! Go for it! You won?t regret it. You can?t beat the quality for the price.

Very happy with this lens and the bokeh!! I?m very pleasantly surprised by the sharpness and quality of images it produces. It does slightly back focus, but that was an easy fix. The focal range and f1.8 have been a game changer for my photography. This is the lens rarely, if ever, comes off my d7100. If you have a crop sensor, this is a no brainer!!

I purchased this lens primarily to put me in a good range focal range for shooting headshots. Having the 70mm right in the middle of the focal range is handy for this. I've found the colors and resolving power of this lens to be fantastic though it can be a little challenging to use. The focus breathing makes it easy to end up with too little or too much compression giving you a fun-house mirror like effect so be very cognisant of the subject distance as you shoot. I didn't think I'd complain about the tripod foot, but it is a bit of a pain in the ass, mainly because it's not removable and doesn't come far enough out from the barrel. I have to mount it backwards on my manfrotto 3-way pan-tilt head if I want to have my battery grip attached in landscape mode. This is a great lens to use if you want to do sylized portraits as it gives you quite a bit to work from.

I love this big beautiful heavy beast. Sigma has a winner with this lens. I use it for portrait work in and out of the studio. It is heavy and well made and the images are amazing.

This is a great lens and works wonders if you have a crop sensor camera, which I did (Canon SL3) at the time of purchase. After upgrading to a full frame camera (6D Mark II), the lens, unfortunately, does not work. I wish that it was clearer that the lens was for APS-C cameras only. I saw the HSM Art in the name and falsely assumed that it would work with a full frame camera similar to Sigma's other Art lenses.

This is a lens that brings excitement to photography The clarity from the narrow depth of field across the zoom range makes the subject jump out of the image. The lens is certainly on the heavy side, but the results more than make up for the inconvenience A truly excellent product

Really nice lens for those in-between distances. With F 1.8 you get more than enough depth of field to make your subject standout against great bokeh. I have used this lens a lot for indoor sports where lighting is not the best. Great all around lens.

Love this lens, breathing and all. I use it primarily for video interviews at f2.2 and it's just superb for this.

The perfect companion lens to the 18-35 f/1.8 I needed the ability to reach out from the crowd and grab shots of performers and this lens is perfect for that. Everyone worries about the weight but let me tell you this, when you get home or back to the office and have to start cropping images so much it breaks your heart, you'll never whine about the weight again.

The Sigma 50-100mm f/1.8 is a superb lens — fast, accurate, and incredibly sharp even in tricky light. It has lovely bokeh and color as well. It's great to be able to focus manually while still in autofocus mode. The lens is quite heavy in return for all this quality and took me a day or two to get used to, but the upside is that it's less prone to shake if I brace myself properly. This lens and its older sibling, the Sigma 17mm–50mm f/2.8, pretty much take care of my shooting needs. I recommend it without reservation to anyone who can handle the weight.

I absolutely love this lens I thought not being able to remove the tri pod ring would be a problem but it’s easy to work around it. I would definitely recommend it

I bought this lens to fill in the role of my main interview lens. I have canon lenses which is use a lot but my main criticism was that for interviews the focal length range of a 24-70 was too limited. Frequently I wanted 50 mm as my wide interview frame and 80-90 as my close up interview focal length. this is not possible with the available canon lenses without changing lenses. This Sigma lens filled the perfect focal length ranger interview plus its a stop faster than the canon lenses I might choose which pays benefits if you want greater DOF separation between subject and background. The Sigma plays really well with the DPAF on the C300 Mk2 being both quiet AND fast. the speed of autofocus is on par with my Canon 70-200 F4 ll which is almost mind readingly fast.

Another great zoon lens by Sigma. It is a bit big and heavy but the images with my Canon 7D Mark II are incredibly sharp. Highly recommend.

It is sharp and the f 1.8 allows photos in low light. A must for serious DX photographers. I use it on a Nikon D7500. It is heavy but a well built lens.

I absolutely love this lens. The images are dreamy. The sharpness and the bokeh make for an awesome shooting experience. The only thing that I do not care for is the weight of the lens .Super heavy when working with it all day at a wedding. That issue doesn't say me though. I am going to replace all my lenses with art lenses.Extremely happy with this line.

For my 80D I now have this, the 18-35 f1.8, 150-600 contemporary, and some low level Canon lenses (10-18, 18-135). This is clearly the bokeh king of the bunch. As noted by everyone else, sharpness is incredible and the bokeh looks great. I’ve had the nifty 50, which seemed almost as sharp, but with a bokeh that was harsh/distracting in certain conditions. Focus needing adjustment with the sigma dock, something I also did on the 18-35. Afterwards both lenses have pretty good auto focus on my 80D, but I don’t have a 100% keeper rate with the 50-100. Wide open at 100mm the DOF is so shallow that missing seems inevitable sometimes (maybe canon L series at 2-3x cost would be different story?). If you’re willing to live with the size/weight, I feel like it would be hard to get better portraits for the same price with any other lens.

This lens is excellent all around. Only very rarely, usually when something is at a limit (zoom, light, whatever) it may focus incorrectly, but even in those rare occasions I can not always tell if it was the lens or me (probably me...) I was worried about the weight like some other reviewers, but it has a very good tripod mount. I do not normally shoot from a tripod, but I attach a short monopod during volleyball games for occasionally support. Adorama package for this lens comes with some neat add-ons, so it ends up as a very good deal - even compared to used ones - and you get the manufacturer warranty. I did not need to use the Sigma USB Dock - the lens worked great out of the box on my Nikon D500, but perhaps I will need to use it at some point for firmware updates and my other Sigma lens, so it is great to have that included too.

I recently retired my 24 year old Wedding/Event business. In doing so I sold off all of my full frame gear as it seems like a lot of money to keep tied up for hobby stuff or a few portraits here an there. I found myself sitting with a 7D (original) and a couple of lenses suited for full frame bodies. The 70-200mm was GREAT for wildlife, but not so good for portraits as I'd have to stand 30' away at times. I was VERY skeptical about selling my world class Canon 70-200 f2.8L IS II to buy this lens.I'm RARELY a "cheerleader" for any lens as they all seem to have a few "Cons" but the 70-200mm had none on a full frame body - It was the best lens I had ever purchased to date! Now fast forward a bit to the day I picked up my near Sigma 50-100 f1.8 lens. I literally shook with fear as I unboxed it having already parted with my beloved 70-200mm. It was only after a few photos with it I lost all apprehension and only had two words then that sill apply today: HOLY COW! This Sigma 50-100mm f1.8 lens creates the most AMAZING images I've ever seen come from a crop sensor camera. They RIVAL any images created on my full frame equipment! I'm NOT kidding! The Sigma 50-100mm equates to 80-160mm f1.8 on a crop frame which is PERFECT! And the HUGE constant aperture acts JUST LIKE an f2.8 does on a full frame body in terms of subject isolation (depth of field). It just amazing! I am SO happy I switched to this lens! It has changed EVERYTHING in the crop sensor photography world! Sigma has made HIGH QUALITY event photography WAY more affordable! To put a cherry on the cake, Adorama included a FREE dock so I am able to fine tune the focusing at 4 different intervals. It's just unbelievable... a dream come true.! If you have a crop frame body and you're even CONSIDERING this lens... just get it! There's no way I can see that it can disappoint.

The lens is incredibly sharp, quiet, and fast focusing. The weight is extreme, but I prefer it because it makes for a steadier shot. If you have a crop sensor I highly recommend this lens

The lens's Hyper Sonic Motor has been redesigned and enhanced to be 30% slimmer, providing fast and accurate autofocus.
Durability is a key feature of this lens, with a highly durable polycarbonate diaphragm made with fluorine and blades featuring carbon feather film. This ensures exceptionally smooth operation, even during continuous shooting.
