I purchased this just before attending a flower show and used it to capture amazing images of all kinds of blooms. With the large volume of attendees at the show, there wasn't a lot of time to spend with each specimen, so I had to use the AF feature, shoot, and move along. I was extremely pleased with the ease of use and the quality of the images.

This was my first true macro lens. It was very inexpensive compared to others so really wasn't expecting too much, but I loved using this lens. Using manual focus (which is highly recommended) I got some great sharp macro photos. Of course the depth of field is very shallow, even with the aperature closed down, but that's usually what I'm after anyway. Color reproduction is great. It's a no-frills lens that's easy to use, takes nice sharp macro pics and great portrait shots with a nice bokeh which is a nice bonus. I don't have this lens anymore, but if I need another 50mm macro lens, I wouldn't hesitate to pick this one up.

Am somewhat new to the world of photography and really am attracted to the "macro" part of it so am not an expert on lenses but so far have loved the results I've gotten with this lens and price wasn't too bad either.

This was my first macro lens and I really like it. It takes some great pictures that are very sharp. The autofocus tends to hunt some in different situations, but I find I use manual focus more often when using it with macro.

For $[...], the Sigma f/2,8 DG EX macro lens is an excellent value. It works well as a macro lens but the focus is slower than the Pentax version and it better to take macros with the camera mounted on a tripod with cable release. It does work hand held however and also serves as an excellent low light lens indoors and outside.

Optimized image quality for Digital SLR cameras. Floating Internal Focusing (FIF) system minimizes the aberration in entire focusing range. Super Multi Layer (SML) coating reduces the ghost caused by reflections from the surface of digital image sensors. Minimum aperture of F/45 provides greater depth of field A screw-in hood for convenient use of circular polarizing filters
MACRO 50mm F2.8 Ex DG incorporates the very latest optical technology and is an ideal standard lens for digital SLR cameras. The new advanced lens design corrects various aberrations. This macro lens is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down ghost caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. This lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.
The new MACRO 50mm F2.8 Ex DG incorporates a "Floating Internal Focusing" (FIF) system which enables this lens to photograph objects precisely not only at life-size reproduction but also at infinity. The lens has a minimum focusing distance of 18.9cm (7.4 in) and is capable of true macro photography with a maximum magnification of 1:1. Experience the enjoyment of real life-size macro photography. This lens is equipped with a "Focus Limiter Switch" that limits the auto focus range, allowing the camera focus more quickly. This lens has a minimum aperture of F45 which produces a tremendous depth of field. A screw-in hood is included, for convenient use of circular polarizing filters. It is also possible to attach a 72mm filter in front of the lens hood.
