Once again I have been extremely happy with a purchase of used equipment from Adorama. The camera I purchased was listed as condition "E" and what I received was a MINT condition camera still in the original box with all accessories in tact. I have never been let down by Adorama and will continue to be a loyal custpmer in the future

Good buy, given the camera's features.

The Foveon sensor is small but powerful. DONT BE FOOLED! Its image output size is 4.6mp but it has 14mp of RAW image data to work with. Does that make your image better? Yes if you have a sharp lens and plenty of light. This is not a camera for someone who wants to point and shoot with a DSLR and get better image quality. You have to know what you are doing to make this work. It also has a 1.7x Crop APS-C sensor so its almost 4/3rds range in crop factor. They claim its the most "film like" DSLR on the market, and they are right. The ISO works just like film... same with the file size. To some this could be a bad thing to others.. a dream. Anyone who buys this camera is making a commitment to Sigma lenses, Sigma should at least give Sigma DSLR users a discount on the cost of their SA mount lenses.. oh and another thing, don't expect to just sell this stuff off if you don't like it Sigma in SA mounts DO NOT hold their value in the used market... just ask the used department at Adorama they will tell you the same thing.

The main complaint is that Sigma's specifications tell lies. They say: "The Foveon X3 direct image sensor captures all primary RGB colors at each and every pixel location." And then they claim this is a 14Mpixel camera. Taking both statements together, it should be capturing 14,000,000 or so RGB pixels. It doesn't. It captures only 4.6Mpixels... each with an R, G, and B sensor. And it's quite fine for a 4.6Mpixel camera... but it's priced comparable to actual 18Mpixel cameras. The human eye is dramatically more sensitive to luminance than color, so this is the wrong way to do it, even if they were't lying about the resolution. And also, no video, which is unheard of in a camera at this price from any reputable manufacturer.

The SD15 Digital SLR camera is the latest model in Sigma's SD series. Powered by the 14-megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor, it can capture all primary RGB colors at each and every pixel location arranged in three layers. The new SD15 incorporates the "TRUE II" image processing engine, which processes the large amount of data from the 14 megapixel direct image sensor.
It also provides high resolution power and reproduces high definition images with impressive three-dimensional detail, rich in gradation. The camera adopts the SD card and incorporates a highly visible 3.0 inch LCD monitor, 77-Segment AE sensor and Analog Front End (AFE).
It provides high image quality and user friendly design. In addition, the durable shutter mechanism, which has a life of over 100,000 actuations, is ideal for the demands of digital photography. The SD15 has been developed with the principle of producing superior image quality from the direct image sensor, as well as improved processing speed, operation and performance.
