Great SB400 alternative

Use it mainly for indoors close range photography and as fill flash outdoors. Recycle time can be trying sometimes but if you chimp like I do it shouldn't be a problem. This isn't fancy, but it more than gets the job done. Great bang for the buck and truly is pocketable as the hotshoe folds into the case. Works well when you bounce it off a ceiling or attach a cheapo bounce card (aka an index card) like I do. I tried using a cheapo bounce attachment made by Opteka but it was too big for this device and did not fit. Again, this is a truly small and compact flash but works REALLY well given its limitations (two batteries only, small size, etc)

A little expensive

This was my first flash I bought, I was looking for something small and lightweight. It does a very good job. But now that I'm getting to know better the capabilities of other products I think this is a little expensive for what it does, and the biggest con is that in only swivels in one direction, it would be a lot better if swivels in its own axis

Decent flash for its price.

This is a decent flash. It's small and lightweight so you can bring it without taking up much space or adding much weight. I found the exposures to be inconsistant. I replaced mine with a Nikon SB-400 which I like much more. The Sunpak is a lot less expensive, so if cost is important, this Sunpak will do a decent job. I would recommend it only if price is a factor. I would also recommend a larger more powerful flash if you do a lot of shooting with flash, and use this one when size and weight are important.

NICE ADDITION TO MY GEAR

It's actually a pretty good flash. It does have a weak output but way better than my built in flash. Easy to carry aorund. Fits perfect in your shirt pocket. A good alternative to the SB-400. Cheaper too!

Good flash

The build of this flash is good, and it works well. I mainly use it in the house or small business offices for when a SB 600 or bigger isn't needed. I picked this as my replacement t the SB400 when I lost mine. To me, it performs the same and I would recomend it over the SB400.

Priced right, works as advertised.

Great for snapshooting. Expands coverage, can bounce and diffuses well for wide angle coverage. Recycling is reasonably fast with lithium batteries.

Great little flash

I bought it for my Nikon P6000 compact and it's great for that. It's small but reasonably powerful and not too big for a compact like the P6000 or Canon G series. It also can be used for bounce flash. I also use it with my Nikon D90 and D60 when I don't want to bring a big flash.

Same as Quantaray XLF-50 Flash for less!

This little flash is great and it's the same as Quantaray for a lot less money. It's not a high end flash but it's way better than a built in flash. It does a great job in the under 25' range.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was reluctant to purchase the Sunpak RD2000 over the highly rated Nikon SB400 for my D60. The price swayed me, though. Spending money on something that does not work is throwing money away. If nothing else, this could be an expensive manual backup. I have been very pleasantly surprised by this flash unit. It works well with the iTTL. It is easy to use. It has a relatively fast recycle time. But most importantly, the results to in my pictures are great, a big improvement over the built-in flash! The money saved can be applied to other more expensive goodies ( such as a lens ). I cannot yet attest for the unit's durability, since I've had this only a short time. But at this point, I am happy with the flash and would recommend it to others.
