It has served me well. Holds zero, tracks well, is relatively lightweight, but the low light performance isn't mind blowing. If you can live with that one small downside, it's a great choice.

Clear view, holds zero and I have used it to shoot up to 900-1000 yards

I wrote a review on this scope earlier but it has not been published. This scope has performed flawlessly, tracks perfectly and holds zero. I do not agree with the other reviewers on this scope. Very good optics for this price range and is a good looking scope. Does what it's supposed to do!! Highly recommend this scope and Vortex optics, best warranty in the business.

This scope offers a great zoom and field of view for hunting in thick woods or open fields. I enjoy the covered turrets and glass quality.

HST 4-16X44MM on top of a Weatherby laminated sporter in .243 win has become a rockchucks worst nightmare. Scope is solid, clear and absolutely holds zero. Fun to dial and always returns to zero. Best scope I have right now and I have owned many from other companies but Vortex will stand behind their products! This is a wonderfully simple scope and a excellent product!

I bought one about 3 years ago and put it on my 28 Nosler, I have used it out to 1200 yards best scope on the market for the money. Ended up getting a second for my ar-10 using it out to 1000 yards this next weekend. Love this company and there customer support!

I have used this scope on a 6.5 creedmoor and a 308. Awesome scope . Can shoot it out to 300 yards without even changing the MOA if you memorize the drop. Past that I use the chart. Don't really have to worry about elevation change until past 7,000 feet. Great scope.

Well, this is my 3rd scope from Vortex, and the overall rating is considering you don't get any of my issues, that I believe its on this particular scope only. I have 2 issues I will talk about in the end. Scope is pretty good overall, love the reticle and clarity. Eye relief is what you would expect from Vortex (so, GREAT). Design wise, I find the turrets grip to be a bit sharp, but that's just my preference only. I like those from diamondback tactical more. Scope looks and fells solid, operates as it should, very clear glass, field of view is just fine... I would like to see some numbers on the reticle, so its faster to mil. Thats the only thing I would like to see to be improved on the reticle. Overall, I like the reticle design A LOT. The scope it's not light but not too heavy by any means. I like the sun shade protector is included, and it is very robust too, like the scope itself. It will not bend easily. ISSUES: Mine have 2 issues I would what to see resolved, but I don't know how since I live in Portugal. It's not easy at all to sent this to the US. Shipping cost and customs fees are just HUGE. Is there anywhere in Europe where vortex can take care of products for warranty? The issues are: -Reticle is slightly canted clockwise in relationship to the turrets. Its the only Vortex Scope I have with this issue. And I am sure it is canted. Apart of owning a lot of other scopes, I did follow troubleshoot from Vortex, and it's very clear what the problem is. Its even visible at naked eye, but with a good quality level is even more noticeable. -There is also some very small debris inside the ocular lens. I can't see them in regular usage, but if I focus on the lens, I will see them. Thats a bit annoying.

Bought this scope a few months ago for my tikka t3x 300wsm and it’s a great pair, super clear. I’ll definitely be buying more vortex products.

Used it first time on a late season elk hunt in Utah. Cold, snowy day and not one issue. Downed an elk at 400 plus yds in one shot thanks to Vortex’s clear optics and precision adjustments on this scope. Buy it, you won’t be sorry.

This product was recommended to me from a friend who also uses it. I needed a scope to install on a Savage Axis II .308, I am very new to the "long range" game so I really didn't know what I was looking for in a scope. The Viper HST 4-16X44 was the perfect choice for easing into this, very easy to set up, I was able to zero in very little time, and it performed in the field flawlessly. The glass is very clear, and does excellent in low lighting conditions. I was able to take it on my first hunt out west and it helped me easily find the animal I was after and execute a perfect shot!

I've had this scope for 2 years now. It works great as a scope, but the unlocked and uncapped windage is driving me nuts. Seems I can't put it in/out of a case or the truck without having a click or two. Lesson learned, this one is for sale and I'll be stepping up to something with a capped or locking windage. On the plus side the glass is spot on for the price. It tracks well and does everything it's supposed to do. If I didn't need to verify zero non-stop it'd be a winner.

I bought this scope for my 16 inch AR knowing I can use it both for shooting, hunting, and varmint hunting at various distances. It has worked wonders at my ranch in west Texas in pretty harsh conditions (rain, dirt, mud and still works fantastic. It's great for ranchers and recreational, and tactical shooters. Highly recommended.

I’ve been running this scope on two of my hunting rifles for 3 years now. Excellent glass and positive clicks. I’ve never had any problems. Both hold zero. These can handle magnum rifles.

This scope was my first of many from the Vortex line and by far my favorite thus far. I have used on the range from 50 yard shot to 600 yard with no issues. It well exceeded my expectations. I placed it on my Browning X bolt and have taken several deer with it and watch elk through it. Wouldn’t trade unless going upward in the Vortex line!

Have had this optic for little over 2 months and it has already proved to an extremely competent scope for the price! Strong, rugged and a very clear sight picture even up to its max magnification.

I bought this scope and put it on a Ruger Precision. I have enjoyed using this scope for about a year now, turrets track true, and the glass is clear, no complaints.

This has been on my Tikka hunting rifle for three seasons now and although i don't drag the rifle on the ground behind me, the optic has withstood its fair share of bumps and bruises and never lost zero. Great clarity at low light, just takes some cycling on the magnification adjustment ring to loosen it up.

I put this scope on a tikka t3x lite 7mm Remington mag with Talley lightweight mounts. It has been an excellent optic. I have hunted Newfoundland moose in horrible weather, NC white tails, and around 500 rounds of target shooting. It holds zero perfectly and the turrets track well. The scope has never fogged up on me.

Bought this to go on top of a .270 WSM I surprised my wife with for her birthday (we use our rifles for hunting). She has only ever had half decent optics so as soon as she looked through the viper she loved it! Very easy to use and crystal clear. Would 100% recommend it to others and would buy again.

Bought this to get into precision rifle shooting. Paired with Rem 700p .308 produced .3 moa at 200 yds. Reticle was easy to use, made zeroing fast and easy. Turrets were accurate through 8 mil tall target test. Was able to dial for multiple targets out to 700 yds and connect on 8 out of 9 in my first precision rifle match. I will buy another Vortex scope, without question.

I have owned this scope for 2 years and love it! I am impressed with the clarity! It gathers light better than I expected when hunting. I have been working on my shooting skills. I bought the right scope for my needs. Now I want another one!

I put this scope on top of a Sig 716 DMR and what a pair. The adjustments are right on the money as well as the hash’s on the crosshairs. Ran it out to 1020 yards, dialed in my corrections and on steel after 3 shots, never missed after that. I have and will be putting vortex optics on every gun I own.

Scope works great!
By AR B.
I have two Viper HST scopes one is on my Core 15 AR in 223, it has the VMR-1 MOA reticle makes hold overs easy, it has very clear glass and I like the way the turrets work and feel, I think it is a great scope.
Excellent scope, great value

A buddy and I both bought the Viper HS-T 4-16x44 MRAD last winter for our long range rigs and have nothing but good things to say about this scope. We’ve been able to hit a 10” gong out to 1000m without much trouble and have found glass clarity and turret tracking to be excellent. Great scope for the money and I have recommended it to a few friends
The Vortex Optics Viper HS-T 4-16x44 Riflescope with VMR-1 MRAD Reticle combines a high-transmission lens system and weather-sealed 30mm scope tube to create a versatile optic for close to mid-range targeting. Vortex uses optically indexed Extra-low Dispersion (HD) glass elements and fully multicoated optics, with their proprietary XR anti-reflective lens coatings, to maximize the scope's light gathering and transmission ability. This combination of optics and coatings minimizes chromatic aberration and preserves overall clarity with the resulting images being bright and sharp throughout the zoom range.
This Viper HS-T scope is configured with a VMR-1 MRAD duplex reticle in the second focal plane (SFP). Putting the reticle on the SFP keeps it in focus as the zoom is pulled in or pushed out, eliminating the need to re-focus it after every zoom adjustment. The VMR-1 MRAD pattern is a duplex-style variant with medium-weight posts at three, six, nine and twelve o'clock that taper to a fine crosshair. Stadia lines on the central crosshairs aid in long-distance ranging, calculating hold-over and ballistic-drop compensation.
Complementing the Viper HS-T's shooter-friendly design and image quality is the build quality to match. The scope housing is machined from a solid piece of aluminum, anodized with a corrosion-resistant hard coat and filled with argon gas to ensure water and fogproof performance. All exposed lens surfaces are finished with Vortex's proprietary ArmorTek scratch-resistant coating that also repels moisture and dirt.
