While the Morpheus 6.5mm 76 Degree Wide-Field Eyepiece is a product of over four years of meticulous development by Baader Planetarium, it is more than just an eyepiece; it's a dream come true for astronomy enthusiasts. This high-quality, durable eyepiece offers a sharp, flat 76-degree field that is unrivaled by any other modern wide-field eyepiece. Its on-axis sharpness and contrast are comparable to the best planetary eyepieces, delivering near-equivalent performance across the entire field.
The Morpheus eyepiece is designed with user-friendly features such as long eye relief, providing close to 20mm of comfort for both eyeglass wearers and binoviewer users. Stars remain as clear as diamond pinpoints, even as you move away from the center, and the field remains flat and in focus, even in short focus telescopes.
This innovative eyepiece boasts exceedingly low distortion, ensuring that planets and lunar features retain their true shapes as they transit the field. The true field sizes are close to theoretical, a testament to the integrity of Baader Planetarium's design.
The Morpheus eyepiece features the Phantom Coating Group, an optimized multi-coating system that was first introduced in the Hyperion lineup. This coating has been further refined for use in the Morpheus eyepiece and is index-matched to each of the different glasses used in its construction.
The eyepiece's internal mechanics have been fully ray-traced and baffled to eliminate the effects of stray light, ensuring optimal viewing experience. The eyepiece is also designed with weight reduction in mind, making it ideal for binoviewing.
The Morpheus eyepiece comes with two soft rubber dual-position foldable eyeguards, providing optimal comfort and eye spacing for most users, including eyeglass wearers. The eyepiece also incorporates Baader's new Slip-Protect Safety Kerfs on the 1-1/4" and 2" barrels, providing additional grip and security.
Finally, the Morpheus eyepiece is versatile, offering superb imaging projection optics like its Hyperion siblings. It includes a hidden M43 photo-video eye lens thread that allows for direct-thread attachment of virtually any imaging device, making it an excellent choice for those interested in astrophotography.
