A pinnacle of optical engineering, the Morpheus 17.5mm 76 Degree Wide-Field Eyepiece is the embodiment of over four years of meticulous development by Baader. Named after the God of Dreams, this eyepiece is designed to deliver a dream-like viewing experience, offering an unparalleled 76-degree wide field of view.
The Morpheus eyepiece boasts full-field sharpness, a feature that sets it apart from other wide-field eyepieces on the market. Its on-axis sharpness and contrast rival the best planetary eyepieces, ensuring stellar performance across the entire field. As you navigate away from the center, stars remain as crisp diamond pinpoints, and the field stays flat and in focus, even when used with short-focus telescopes.
Designed with user comfort in mind, the Morpheus eyepiece offers an impressive eye relief of nearly 20mm, pushing the boundaries of comfortable wide-field viewing. This feature makes it an ideal choice for eyeglass wearers and binoviewer users, who can comfortably enjoy the full field of view.
The eyepiece is engineered with low distortion, ensuring that planets and lunar features retain their true shapes as they transit across the field. Unlike many other eyepieces that exaggerate field sizes, the Morpheus eyepiece offers a true field size of 76 degrees, calculated from the apparent field size and focal length.
The Morpheus eyepiece incorporates the Phantom Coating Group, a technology pioneered in the Hyperion lineup. This multi-coating has been optimized for use in the Morpheus and is index-matched to each of the different glasses, ensuring superior optical performance.
The eyepiece also features optimized internal baffling, a hallmark of all Baader Planetarium eyepieces. The internal mechanics have been fully ray-traced and baffled to eliminate stray-light effects, ensuring a clear and crisp viewing experience.
The Morpheus eyepiece is designed with a focus on binoviewing. Its compact body offers maximum nose clearance for binoviewing, and every effort has been made to reduce unnecessary weight. The eyepiece includes two soft rubber dual-position foldable eyeguards, developed to provide optimal comfort and eye spacing for most users and eyeglass wearers.
The eyepiece also incorporates safety features such as the new Slip-Protect Safety Kerfs on the 1-1/4" and 2" barrels. These shallow kerfs provide additional grip and security, preventing inadvertent drops. A wide waffle-patterned rubber grip ring adds an extra layer of handling security.
Like its Hyperion siblings, the Morpheus eyepiece is also designed for photo-video adaptation. It includes a hidden M43 photo-video eye lens thread that allows for the use of the extensive range of Hyperion Digital T-Rings. These rings enable direct-thread attachment of virtually any imaging device, offering ultimate rigidity and close-coupling for minimal vignetting.
In conclusion, the Morpheus 17.5mm 76 Degree Wide-Field Eyepiece is a testament to Baader's commitment to delivering top-tier optical performance, user comfort, and safety.
