This stylish, user-friendly focuser boasts a 30mm focus travel, ensuring smooth and precise focusing for your astronomical observations.The BDS-SC 2" Diamond Steeltrack Focuser is equipped with a true diamond micro-geared high precision drive system, a first of its kind. This system offers zero backlash, zero cogging, and zero flexure, outperforming conventional crayford or rack & pinion drives. The focuser can lift a payload of 6kg (13 lbs) straight up without slipping or excessive bearing preload, thanks to its robust bearing system that utilizes unbreakable Instrument Grade Roller-Bearings instead of simpler ball bearings. This ensures higher load handling with greater rigidity and accuracy.The focuser features a 1:10 Stainless Steel fine-focus mechanism, ready for attachment of the optional Diamond Steeldrive temperature-compensating motor drive system. The drive block assembly is detachable and reversible, allowing for right or left hand fine-focus operation and for attaching the Diamond Steeldrive motor block.The BDS-SC 2" Diamond Steeltrack Focuser is designed with a short mechanical structure to achieve the perfect balance between focuser height (backfocus) and rigidity requirements. It also includes a zero shift locking knob to precisely stop any movement without affecting optical axis adjustment.The focuser's clamping system includes an S58 Dovetail ring-clamp built into the focusing tube, enabling direct thread connection of accessories and cameras without a 2" clamp. It also comes with a 2" eyepiece clamp with a hardened bronze clamp ring. The focusing drawtube of the BDS-SC 2" Diamond Steeltrack Focuser is adjustable for precise alignment of mechanical vs. optical axis. It features ultra-hard subzero coated bearing races that are precision milled and much harder than anodizing or stainless steel. The oversized 55mm inner clear diameter prevents vignetting, and the anti-reflection knife-edge baffles ensure optimal performance. Called Bob Luffel, the US rep for Baader, because of very rough operation when moving the focuser tube in and out just after I unboxed it. He suggested loosening the grub screw holding the gold fine focus knob very slightly away from the black coarse knob. Easy adjustment solved the issue. Works very well, smooth as can be. 4stars for poor quality control from factory, otherwise 5 for a fine product. Can't wait to install on my new Celestron 9.25 Edge.
