From the renowned brand Baader Planetarium, the BDS-NT 2" Diamond Steeltrack Focuser for Newtonian Telescopes with 40mm Focus Travel is a durable and high-quality piece of astronomical equipment. This innovative focuser is designed with a true diamond micro-geared high precision drive system, a first in the industry. Unlike conventional crayford or rack & pinion drives, this advanced system eliminates backlash, cogging, and flexure, ensuring smooth and precise adjustments.
The Diamond Steeltrack 2" focuser is capable of lifting a payload of 6kg (13 lbs) vertically without slipping, thanks to its robust bearing system that uses unbreakable Instrument Grade Roller-Bearings. This superior system offers greater rigidity and accuracy, handling higher loads without the need for excessive bearing preload.
Equipped with a 1:10 Stainless Steel fine-focus mechanism, this focuser is ready for the optional Diamond Steeldrive temperature-compensating motor drive system. The drive block assembly is detachable and reversible, allowing for both right and left-hand fine-focus operation.
The BDS-NT 2" Diamond Steeltrack Focuser boasts the shortest possible mechanical design, striking the perfect balance between focuser height (backfocus) and rigidity requirements. It also features a zero shift locking knob, allowing you to stop any movement precisely without affecting the optical axis adjustment.
The focuser's clamping system includes an S58 Dovetail ring-clamp built into the focusing tube. This allows for the direct thread connection of accessories and cameras without a 2" clamp. The focuser also comes standard with a 2" eyepiece clamp with a hardened bronze clamp ring.
The focusing drawtube of the BDS-NT 2" Diamond Steeltrack Focuser is designed with individually adjustable bearings for precise alignment of mechanical vs. optical axis. The ultra-hard subzero coated bearing races are precision milled and significantly harder than anodizing or stainless steel. With an oversized 55mm inner clear diameter, this focuser prevents vignetting and includes anti-reflection knife-edge baffles for optimal performance.
