I bought this to give my 5mm Hyperion its maximum range of magnification. Combined with the 14mm it works well and the threads line up easily and do not bind. Being metal it holds the cold temperatures for a long time but it doesn't seem to cause the ring to "adhere" to the erfle end or barlowed end. Some light loss does occur though when using it.

Become an astrophotography expert with the Baader Planetarium 28mm Hyperion Fine Tuning Ring. This high-quality accessory is designed to seamlessly adjust the focal length of your Hyperion eyepiece, enhancing your viewing experience and offering greater flexibility in your astronomical observations.
Constructed to match the Hyperion finish, the 28mm Fine Tuning Ring is meticulously designed with sharp v-threading and blackened internal surfaces. This thoughtful design effectively eliminates stray light reflections, ensuring a clear and unobstructed view of the cosmos.
The Fine Tuning Ring is equipped with an M48 filter thread on each end, allowing it to be installed between the removable front negative element and the main body of the Baader Hyperion eyepiece. This added spacing decreases the focal lengths, thereby increasing magnification and enabling your Hyperion eyepiece to function as multiple eyepieces.
Please note, the Baader 24mm Hyperion Eyepiece is not compatible with the Fine Tuning Rings due to a difference in optical design.
In addition to the Fine Tuning Rings, you can also adjust the eyepiece focal length using a Baader 2" Filter. This filter, when placed between the Hyperion negative element and main body, acts like a small Fine Tuning Ring. The 8.5mm thickness of the filter cell subtly reduces the Hyperion's focal length, offering another way to customize your viewing experience.
The Baader Planetarium 28mm Hyperion Fine Tuning Ring is not just an accessory, but a tool to expand your astronomical exploration capabilities.
