It ingeniously directs light through a pickup-prism to an autoguider camera, allowing for accurate tracking independent of the mirror's position. This feature is particularly efficient for long-exposure astrophotography, where precise guiding is paramount.The user-friendly nature of this product is highlighted by its adaptability. For telescopes not equipped with the BFM II, the Off-Axis Guider can be attached using the Off Axis Guider for RCC (RCC-OAG) with T-2 threads. When integrating with the Baader FlipMirror II, simply remove the included small spacer ring to fully insert the prism into the light path, optimizing your setup for guiding accuracy.Unique to this model, the prism can be finely tuned to actively center a star on the guiding chip, ensuring that your celestial targets are perfectly aligned. The vertical side of the prism is designed to face the telescope, maintaining optimal light capture. Additionally, the Off-Axis Guider's versatility extends to its use with the RCC-OAG, providing a comprehensive solution for various telescope configurations.The Baader Off-Axis Guider is also designed for convenience when the mirror is down, such as when guiding a planetary camera connected to the upper port. When the mirror is up, simply align the camera at the rear port so that the prism is situated under the long side of the sensor.To achieve the same focus plane between the guiding camera and the main imaging devices, you have the flexibility to use T-2 or M48 extension tubes. Should you need to distance the autoguider from the BFM II, the 1-1/4" nosepiece can be extended with DT-4-nosepiece extensions, secured by the Focusing Ring Collar FR-4.Consideration for the focus position of the guiding camera is made effortless with the Off-Axis Guider. When used with a guiding camera positioned at the upper end, the image plane is approximately 24mm behind the BFM II's T-2 threads.
