About Baader Planetarium Telecompressor

Become an expert in solar observation and imaging with the SolarSpectrum Research Grade 0.4x Telecompressor 2". This high-quality, durable product is designed for use with all SolarSpectrum H-alpha filters, featuring 2" male threads on both sides for easy attachment.

Crafted by the reputable Baader Planetarium, this innovative telecompressor is designed to achieve parallel light with a ray path of at least f/30, a requirement for Solar Spectrum H-alpha filters. This is accomplished through a focal length extension, which, in many telescopes, may cause the sun to not be completely visually apparent when using eyepieces with f = 30 to 35 mm.

The SolarSpectrum Telecompressor is mounted directly onto the Solar Spectrum body rear end, reducing the f/30 ratio by a factor of 0.4x. This advanced feature allows a much larger portion of the solar surface to come into view, depending on the size of the Etalon mounted inside the Solar Spectrum filter.

This effective telecompressor is used to adjust the focal length to possibly poor seeing conditions and/or enlarging the field for photographic or webcam applications. It can be attached using the 2" Universal flange, which is attached with four screws directly onto the filter housing. The main thread of the compressor is also a 2" male thread, which can be changed if necessary with parts from our T-2 accessories system either to a T-2 internal or external thread.

The SolarSpectrum Research Grade 0.4x Telecompressor features a 46mm clear aperture throughout, making it perfectly suitable even for large SolarSpectrum RG46 Research Grade H-alpha Filters. It has a working distance of 74mm, optimized for videography and full solar disc imaging, and a 16 mm corrected image field in conjunction with the TZ-3.

By reducing the f/30 f/ratio back to f/10, thanks to the factor of 0.4, the RG 0.4x Telecompressor serves to adjust the focal length in order to improve poor seeing conditions and/or to enlarge the field of view for photographic or lucky imaging applications.

Experience the difference in your solar observation and imaging with the SolarSpectrum Research Grade 0.4x Telecompressor 2".
