Shopper : I just switched from PC to iMac a few months ago and I do not have any version of Photoshop except Elements on my computer. Can I install this without having a previous version as listed (CS2, 3 or 4)?MARC N : I too changed from Elements to full Photoshop, in my case CS4. If I understand correctly, Elements can not be used as a base for purchasing full Photoshop upgrades; you must purchase the full version after which you can upgrade at the reduced price. in order to take advantage of the new "content aware" feature I recently upgraded to CS5 and was able to do it at the reduced price. You may be able to purchase the upgrade but if you don't have an earlier full version on your machine it probably won't load. By the way the full version is more than worth the substantially higher price especially if you shoot in RAW. MNFRANCES S : Before you buy, you should contact Adobe directly for the correct answer.JAMES T : If you had a previous CS version on your PC you may be able to use that license to install an upgrade on the Mac, but you should check with Adobe directly. Otherwise you are going to have to invest in a new CS5.ANTHONY R : I believe you need a full version of Photoshop previously installed to use the upgrade. That upgrade will not work for Elements.KARI K : According to Adobe's web site (photoshop buying guide) : You can upgrade to CS5 from Elements versions 9, 8, 7, 6, or 4.0. BUT, the price is significantly more than the cost to upgrade from Photoshop CS 2,3, or 4. At time of purchasing upgrade, didn't you have to state what you were upgrading from?DOUGLAS H : Adobe is very specific about what can and cannot handle their Upgrades for their products. I have gone thru a number of them since CS to my current state of CS5 for both MAC and WIN PC. I have been burned in thinking an upgrade was possible when it was not. Adobe site has a chart that attempts to explain what is and what is not eligible for upgrade. check and double check. Be very specific to everyone you talk with about what you have and what you want. Document your conversations and do the deed. I love the program and cannot say anything bad ..except the cost and having to buy a separate copy for MAC and WIN. Good luck!
