Shopper : Can this program convert a photograph into a quality sketch?RAMON H : Don's know. I haven't used the software as yet.LEE K : as per my previous answer... but now i see that they have released version 11, which apparently includes even more artistic type filters. i say go for it, esp with the current rebate price!!LEE K : Yes I think it does a very nice job. PE 10 is that good!JOHN D : As far as I know, Corel Paintshop Pro is the only remaining alternative to Photoshop Elements. I was a user of another alternative, Corel PhotoImpact for many years, but when they stopped supporting it, I went to Photoshop Elements rather than switch to Paintshop Pro.EDWARD G : Lyle, The only substitute for Elements 10, in my opinion, is the full version of Photoshop. I teach digital photography and recommend Elements 10 as the best program for the money. Hope this helps..... EdJACK D : There is not an appropriate alternative to Elements 10 unless you go up by purchasing, Photoshop CS6. The capabilities and features of Elements 10 can not be matched, in the market today for the price of the product. Elements 10 can do about 80% of what is possible in CS6, except for the really intense editing capabilities of CS6KARA C : I'm not sure why you'd want an alternative? PSE is inexpensive and powerful.S R K : Corel Paintshop Pro X4 (or X5) is the best alternative for Elements 10. There are many other image-editing software options out there, including some FREE ones, but I dont' believe they can match up with Elements 10, feature-for-feature... Shopper : can it edit raw?ELLIOTT K : Elements 10 can edit RAW, but go the the Adobe Elements Support site and confirm it supports the Brand and Model camera you use. You may have to download the latest ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) plugin.DAVID D : Yes you can. I really like the elements 10, used picasa for a while, and this is light years better.GERALD E : Yes, for all the cameras Elements recognizeCARL SCOTT P : Yes, you can edit raw or jpg or other formats. On my camera the EOS 20-D it is recommended to shoot in raw format and do post processing on the software. Elements works very well, though it takes a while to learn the software. Great value for the money.

Catalog issues with 10

I have always been happy with Elements when I started with it back in version 6 and I am currently running 8. I have had 10 for a month and a half and still can't get the catalog to convert to 10. this is a known issues with 10. I have cleaned up the 8 catalog and re-backed it up and it still won't convert, this means lots of lost time on the phone with Adobe and I am not looking forward to it. Long and short of it, it's useless to me right now and still working off of 8.

A Great Program

I have used Photoshop Elements for many years. It has grown from a basic program to one of the better midrange editing programs without breaking the bank on cost. Easy to navigate once you learn the steps. My only complaint is the Organizer (part of the program) can freeze up. You need to figure out the problem if it does otherwise Adobe support is not an easy task. I do a lot of document scanning right into Adobe, easy to do for editing.
