Unfortunately Apple no longer produces WiFi routers, but if you can find one still on the shelf, they are worth the money.

The Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station is one of the best "older" generation "AC" compliant wireless routers. If has excellent range so you may not need multiple routers with mesh technology to cover the same area.

The Airport Extreme base station is simple to set up - just plug in the cords, turn it on and AirPort Utility does the rest. You can satisfy your curiosity and click on 'Advanced' setup - but why bother? Too bad that Apple has discontinued their entire AirPort product line - these products are dirt simple to setup and forget. Bigger profits are to be had from portable devices...

I hate to see Apple discontinue this great product. I bought this one so I could keep my current home network configuration if my current AE (now with a decade of great service) finally quits. The range is great and it gives me a second wireless access point in my home, which I use for guests to keep my main network free for my computers and entertainment center. The range is great and it rarely needs a restart. I’d recommend this item to anyone. Easy to configure and rock solid gigabit performance

It did all I wanted it to do. I am using it as an extension. Delivery and price were good.

I have four of these now - excellent performance and easily concealed. My first one developed a bad cooling fan but was easily and cheaply fixed. It's a pity that Apple is getting out of the router business.

Was previously using an Airport Express with another product to extend my network (technically it added a second network) in my home. When the extender crapped out, I purchased the Airport Extreme to use as the base station and moved my Airport Express to extend that network. So. Much. Better. I hated having to switch networks depending on where I was in my house, so this solves that issue better than I imagined!

I've owned Apple's Airport Basestations since they were introduced. This latest one is replacing two earlier generations. They still work fine after all these years, but I wanted the updated capabilities of the latest gen. We recently moved into a smaller house so I did not need to extend the network anymore. Super easy setup with Apple's Airport Utility, just a few clicks and you are up and running, will also work right out of the box if you don't want to change the generic settings. I can and do recommend this product. I installed it in our addition and the network is seen throughout the house. There can be multiple users without any apparent hit on speed or usability.

I have 9 of these things ; generations going back years This one has the best range and data rate by far. As usual, plug and play. Can’t ask for a better performance.

My old Apple wifi was giving up the ghost so I ordered this as a replacement. I also purchased a wall mount (purchased at a different site) so this is now hidden away in a hall closet. The added height seems to help with signal and I am now getting really good upload/download speeds all over my condo.

This seems to be faster more capable than the older model. Installation to an Apple system is nearly effortless. It has a little more range. Too bad they will not be updating after this model - so that cost a star

My old AirPort Extreme kept telling me that it may be overheating so I wanted to replace it with a new one before Apple stops making these. Most other ones would state that they can handle up to 15 or so devices and this states that it could handle 50. For the past 10 years or more I've had always used Apple's routers with no problems. They one I replaced never got hot to the touch but I just figured it was safer just to replace it.

Used to extend existing ? extreme network due to dead spots in house. Very easy to add to network. No issues during setup. Works great, eliminated dead spots & did not affect throughput in original area of house. Getting only about 50% download (40mbps) speed in dead spot area opposed to primary area (80mbps), but only had about 5 Mbps before.

We travel in an RV and would like to easily connect to WiFi with the Airport Extreme. I have two devices that do that easily. This should also. BTW Adorama was easy, flawless delivery as in the past on cameras, etc. On the positive side having wireless backups available frequently even if I can not use it every day is wonderful. I have a powered usb hub supporting two hard drives with two backups and each hard drive partitioned for extra easy storage. Home users will likely love product more than a retired nomad in an RV exploring National Parks

I've been using an older generation apple time capsule which still works great! But now that I have gigabit internet, I needed a newer 802.11 AC capable router. Adorama always delivers fast and after a quick unboxing, I was up in 10-15 minutes. The setup wizard (Airport utility) is easy and straight forward. I have a long house (two-story), and the range is fairly decent. I wish it was stronger in some areas, but it's too be expected. The 5GHz is fast and awesome (although has shorter range)...and the 2.4GHz is reliable and has further range...great for all my smaller smart devices. Overall: great wifi router - always easy and simple to setup and operate, especially if you're in an Apple ecosystem. Would buy another to possible extend wifi signal for weaker areas.

Been wanting one of these for awhile. Setup was very simple although as usual, I learned things that would make it even simpler to set up another one. Plugged in the LAN cable from my wife's PC, the other one from the cable modem, and then hooked up the PC printer and a cheap 1TB USB hard drive through an inexpensive USB splitter. Only a few more minutes after plugging in the power cord to complete the setup using the AirPort and Time Machine utilities from my MacBook Air. Signal is strong enough that I was able to remove my old range booster from the network and still get a good signal from out on our Patio. Everything. Just. Works.

Simple to set up. Took less than 30 minutes to connect, option and move 2 Roku boxes, 2 wireless speakers and phone. Signal strength on all devices is excellent.

I think the radio components of my older-model Airport Extreme simply wore out. So I have lots of confidence in these Apple-branded routers. There's nothing hard about installation of this router. I chose to mount it on the wall in a hallway instead of in a closet where the old router had been located. Connected it to the WAN from my cable modem, and also a CAT5 Ethernet cable from my desktop iMac. Plugged in the power cord and voila -- AirPort Utility launched itself on my computer. Standard setup is as simple as entering a name for your home network and a password. I used the same old name and password. The router reset, relaunched, and everything was immediately reconnected. iPhones, computers, tablets, AppleTV, FireTV, and AirPlay speaker. My WiFi devices are no longer suffering drop outs; the wireless connections seem extremely stable. As a unexpected bonus, the USB port supports some bus-powered devices. I plugged a spare 32GB thumb drive into the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It was immediately available as shared storage across the network. My sister-in-law has already used it to share photos from her Windows laptop computer. (Only shortcoming, it's limited to USB2 although the network could support higher speeds.) There are custom modes available if, for instance, you want independent 2.4 and 5.0 MHz networks. Those settings are easily accessible via "Advanced" tools in Airport Utility. I highly recommend the AirPort Extreme Base Station.
