Apple continues to make changes that do not make sense like eliminating the built in cd-rom drive and the SD card slot. Very frustrating to have to go out and buy these items separately on a computer that costs over ($)! Also not enough USB ports---need at least 4-5 more. Computer is fast and does work very well with Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

This is an amazing machine. This is the fastest iMac currently available.The 5k screen is incredible. This is a very powerful, versatile machine, and a beautiful compact design. Only complaint is that Adorama said it was "in stock", yet it took over a month to get.

I have loved working with Adorama in the past with different purchases; I've been consistently impressed with their prices, their huge range of products available, their knowledgable and helpful staff, and their support. As far as the iMac I absolutely love it. If you haven't seen or used one you'll be amazed at the unparalleled resolution of the screen ... Beyond that it packs some serious punch. I'm definitely glad I spent the extra money to get the SSD instead of HDD or even the Fusion ... everything I do just flies ... It honestly will boot up almost as fast as my old iPad Air takes to wake up and enter my 4 digit pin! If you don't need the stunning display go for an iMac pro but for what I use it for I need it and after having it and using it; it's honestly hard for me to even look at anything else after using this screen! It really spoils you!

I am using a Canon EOS 5DS-R with Affinity Photo for post camera processing. This computer handles the 70MB and occasionally larger RAW files with ease. The display is large enough to allow pre-print full size evaluation of my 13x19 prints, and could handle a bit larger if needed. I'm quite pleased.

My last iMac worked great for 7 years, but I need more. I tend to have 30 or 40 Safari tabs open at a time, and a couple of spreadsheets, and then try to email some photos to someone. My 2009 iMac, as great as it was, couldn't do that. My 27" Retina iMac, upgraded with 4 GHz CPU, Fusion Drive, and 24GB RAM, is 4 times as fast by the benchmarks. It is wonderful and I am hoping for another 7 years, or more, of great performance!

I swapped out the 8GB ram for 32GB from OWC ($), which is why I went with the 27". My last iMac was a 21" and this screen is huge. It is a beautiful machine, but I dislike having to stand up and reach around to the back to insert/remove the memory card (which I use a lot) and having to buy and take up extra space for a disc player. I like the design of my old fatter iMac much better for those two reasons.

If I purchased this same iMac directly from Apple's site, it would have costed me about $500 more. (due to higher price, 10% Tax, AppleCare, etc). And I got a free printer that I didn't need - but gave to a friend who did.

... as I upgraded from a 2009 24" iMac, I thought there would be a quantum leap in performance with the fully loaded top of the line machine (all the highest specs and best options available). The screen isn't very much improved either. Maybe my opinion will change after a few months usage, but that's my impression at the moment.

FINALLY converted from Windows to IOS. This is the way to go. I added an additional 32 gig of memory. 14 second startup time from pwr off. Still learning the ins and outs, but way FASTER than a windows machine. If you get this, get applecare with it. Those guys are very helpful and friendly. For me, this machine is 5 stars across the board and i WILL recommend it to others. Thanks for the awesome deal on the Adorama. This came with free applecare and a free cannon AirPrint printer.

I admit to being a Mac fanatic! My first experience with their products was the Mac Classic, the one I just replaced was a 2009 iMac. After 7 years of faithful service (never a visit to the repair shop), I simply needed more memory and a faster processor -- and this new computer delivers on that and more. This new iMac starts up much faster, the upload time to the cloud and to Time Machine was cut dramatically. The transfer of data and software from old to new iMac went very smoothly and flawlessly. Programs open up faster. I do a few websites for organizations and run multiple programs on two monitors. The new iMac easily handles the load without seeing the dreaded "spinning beachball." Processor intensive programs like Aurora HDR Pro can process photos in just a few seconds. The 27-inch monitor with the Retina Display is beautiful, it's especially noticeable when working with photographs and high resolution video. Using the highest resolution the screen is big enough to have Safari and Mail opened up side by side. Both the Magic Mouse 2 and the Magic keyboard are wireless. The came almost fully charged and 3 weeks later still haven't need to be recharged. A firewire is included recharge the mouse and keyboard directly from a USB port. The only downside is that the mouse cannot be used while it is charging (the charging port is on the bottom of the mouse). The upside to the mouse is not having to replace two AA batteries every month or so that I went through with the original Magic Mouse. The keyboard that comes with the computer does not have the attached keypad. I'm still getting used to that and may purchase a wireless keypad. This is a great computer if you have a "need for speed" and memory ... and want a HUGE screen.

I upgraded my older iMac to this unit. Transferring the data was incredibly easy and totally complete. I have no complaints with either the replaced on new iMax - both excellent units. Quality workmanship - quality performance - quality support. I switched from PC's (built my own 20+ years) and MS about a year ago - used MS from the DOS days thru Win 10, but their support was horrible - barely spoke English when you could get someone on the phone, and then hung up on me during one (and the last) call. I despise the forced updates, forced into their newest OS when purchasing a computer, and prices. Apple is just the opposite - outstanding support. Hardware and software made for each other. I was having problems wiping my old iMax before selling it, and Apple Support was exceptionally helpful. I recently had issues with Airdrop not working between my OS X and iOS devices - Dan at Apple spent a couple of hours trying to resolve the problem and called me back several times with updates he'd found. Didn't resolve the problem yet, but Apple support folks are top notch, as far as I'm concerned. You get what you pay for, IMO. And Adorama's bundled AppleCare is a good deal, at least for someone like me who occasionally needs some help while learning a new OS.

I am very pleased with this computer. The display is beyond stunning and the system's speed exceeds my needs. I've got a second monitor connected to it for things I want to be able to see all the time but that don't need the image quality of the 5K Retina.
