The AirTag's Precision Finding feature, compatible with iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max, uses Ultra Wideband technology to guide you straight to your lost item. It provides the distance and direction to your AirTag, making it easier to locate.
When your item is left far behind, the Find My network, consisting of hundreds of millions of iPhone, iPad, and Mac devices worldwide, assists in tracking down your AirTag. This process is secure, anonymous, and efficient, ensuring your privacy is protected while minimizing battery life and data usage.
The Lost Mode feature further simplifies the finding process. When activated, you'll receive a notification once your AirTag is detected by a device in the network. You can also set it to share your contact info when your AirTag is tapped with an NFC-capable smartphone.
Privacy is a cornerstone of the AirTag design. Only you can see where your AirTag is, and your location data and history are never stored on the AirTag. The devices that relay your AirTag's location remain anonymous, and the location data is encrypted throughout the process.
The AirTag also discourages unwanted tracking. If an AirTag that isn't yours ends up in your belongings, your iPhone will alert you. If you don't find it, the AirTag will eventually play a sound to notify you of its presence.
