I bought this version of the Owle Bubo in April, and it's been an attention-getter what with the attractive strangers asking "Ooh, what is that?" and suspicious security guards pulling me aside worrying that it's a weapon. But that's all peripheral. While the design of the Bubo is interesting and unique, I can really only recommend it as a toy. It's limited by the iPod's camera that only works well in good light. The 37mm lens, however, is a treat; the image goes from claustrophobic cell phone-like video, to a dynamic wider angle with only a slight fish-eye. The weight of its sold aluminum body feels good in your hands and helps stabilize the image. For the price, I expected a better microphone. It died on me from the noise of a passing drumline (no joke). They offer better microphones, but they're pretty expensive. Despite my complaints, I've found the Bubo pretty addictive, but that may have more to do with the iPod's features: the ability to edit with iMovie and upload directly to the internet.
