Top quality piece of kit. Feels very solid and smooth. Wonderful clear level. Everything about it just feels pro! The kind of gear that when you hold it you just know it was made to last. The lever lock is a must have..very secure. As a bonus Adorama was as usual a pleasure to deal with.

Wonderful! I could have spent much less and gotten an adequate ballhead...but sometimes adequate just...isn't. This will likely last a lifetime.

This ball head replaces the Really Right Stuff BH-50, which is great, but heavy. This ball head seems just as secure, but much lighter than the RRS. I really like the lever action, which seems very secure because it requires a push button to release. I've just started using it, but it has been working perfectly. Recommended.

The GP ballhead is a beautiful piece of engineering that also functions great. I use the head on a carbon fiber tripod with lenses up to a 600mm telephoto and have had no problems.

The Acratech GP head is great- it holds my 5D Mark iii with 100-400mm lens in the right spot when I take pictures in the operating room. I like the ability to lock this head in place with a heavy camera and not have drift. I also like the ability to get parts for this versus a "throwaway" ball head. Acratech is the best!

I have used this head as a ball, gimbal and pano. I even used it in the pano mode with a laser level to shoot grades. The fast thread take up on the clamp has me spoiled. Its real nice. Whats not to love? I wish it was a little bit heavier so I could hang my 500mm on it in gimbal mode. Its just not tough enough. It will handle my 300mm just fine though.

I had an Arcade Swiss ball head for over ten years. Always like to have a lighter and open design ball head as a backup. Finally I brought this. I like to use it in dusty environment, time when I wish traveling light. Also I would like to do more panoramic shots. This fits my needs. So I feel it is well built, strong enough to lock camera and lens in place. Looking forward to travel with it for days to come.

I definitely recommend this ballhead. Might be a little pricey, but is well worth it. Panning, tilting, using it as a gimbal is smooth and easy. Don't have any creep when locking it down with a sigma 150-600 C and Nikon D810.

I don't really know where I'm going with my photography. But I do like knowing my equipment is bullet proof and can handle going in whatever direction I choose to take. That's why I chose this head and paired it with a Berlebach 2032. Which incidentally was recommended to me as quality equipment that would last me a lifetime and then some by a 40+ year professional photographer. After using this combination for a while I still haven't used all the functions the head is capable of. But, it's served me flawlessly. I do remove the head when I'm not using it and store it in my camera bag inside its original box. It is rugged but it's also something I don't want to pay to replace because I was negligent in caring for my equipment. I prefer buy once cry once. Not wash rinse repeat if you know what I'm saying. Overall a very fine head and proudly made in the USA and you can't say that about very many products in this game especially these days.

I bought this head to go with my gitzo 1228 tripod. Both are very light but very well made. I think it is a good product but I havn`t had it for long.

Very light ball head

The Acratech GP ballhead has all the benefits and ability to function as a gimbal head and it weighs only 1 lb (454g), but what really sets the GP apart from all other ballheads is that it is also designed to be used upside down, allowing the ball to be used as a leveling base for stitched panoramic images. Even when using your tripod on rocky, uneven terrain the GP Ballhead allows you to pan parallel to the horizon, eliminating the need to carry a separate leveling base to create accurate panoramic images.
This ballhead includes a quick release clamp with either the double speed rubber knob or the new locking lever. It also includes a large bulls eye level and detent pin.
