This is a Christmas gift for my husband, but he was so impressed with its functionality and reviews by others that he placed it at the top of his Christmas list. Adorama shipped the ballhead promptly and I'm confident that my husband will love it.

Acratech makes the best ball heads. German quality made in the USA. Scott's designs are very intuitive and easy to use. Thanks

Rock solid, smooth as silk and beautifully machined. This is a very fairly priced high-end piece of equipment that anybody who values dependable well designed professional performance will not be disappointed. Infinitely adjustable, with the controls easily accessible and once locked down keeping everything exactly in place. One of the best purchases i’ve ever made.

This ball head is a marvel. Works equally well as standard ball head, gimbal, and panoramic head. I originally bought it for it's flexibility, but love it for it's build quality and workmanship. Highly recommended!

Purchased this to replace a lost ballhead. Though it is compact, and lightweight it holds my gear well with no slippage. Haven't used the gimbal or pano functionality yet, but like that as an option. I had reason to contact the manufacturer as I had an issue with how my particular camera fit on the plate. They went above and beyond to make things work for me. I have nothing but good things to say about the manufacturer and their customer service.

The head is light, very smooth, and well build. It hold camera well even with long lens (Sigma 50-500mm at full extension). It has one problem: the lens viewpoint shift when main knob is tightened. It is more noticeable with lenses long focal length (300-500mm). According to Acratech representative it is a feature of this head which might be compensated to a degree with tension knob but it make it inconvenient. This problem is not very notifiable for lenses with focal length less then 135 mm.

Exceptionally light yet very durable and tough. Works great. I have a Leica m with a telephoto and no worries about it slip sliding off the setting. Pricey but for the great gear freaks among us, this the bad boy you want

Amazingly smooth and locks down tight easily when needed. The different sized knobs really help when fine tuning the composition since you do not have to look at the knobs while looking through the viewfinder. I upgraded to this one from another ball head and had no difficulty at all adjusting to it.

This is my first high-end ballhead, and I have to say I love it. It's lightweight, fits perfectly on my Sirui legs, and is easy and intuitive to use. The different size knobs are a big plus, since you don't have to worry about turning the wrong one by accident. I've had problems with slippage after fixing my position on cheaper heads, particularly with longer lenses, but the Acratech is fairly easy to lock up tight. The ball moves smoothly in all directions and the fact that it stays clean and smooth at the beach and in the desert is great! (Also had it in the rain.) Haven't had a chance to test the gimbal mechanism that much, but the head easily holds my 200-500 Nikon lens. I also very much like the quick release clamp, since I'm always nervous about just how well the plate holds. Not as thrilled with the Arcatech QR plate itself—screw into the camera tends to come loose pretty easily, even after tightening with the allen wrench. Also didn't like the fact that I had to purchase a separate plate. Would probably dock it a 1/2 star for that if I could. All-in-all, very please with this purchase!

The Acratech GP-s Ballhead has all the benefits and features of the GP Ballhead, including the ability to function as a gimbal head and as a panoramic head. But the GP-s Ball head has been designed with a smaller diameter base to allow it to be used with travel type tripods where the legs fold around the tripod head. The smaller base diameter allows the tripod legs to fold more compactly. Even when using your tripod on rocky, uneven terrain the GP-S Ballhead allows you to pan parallel to the horizon, eliminating the need to carry a separate leveling base to create accurate panoramic images. This ballhead includes the specially designed Quick Release Clamp, with bulls eye level, double speed rubber knob and detention pin.
