I used to own the Avenger Boom Stand but it could not hold the weight of my XplorPro 600 w/ Modifier. This Mini boom is much more reliable. Once it's locked it there is no creep or play whatsoever. Pair this with a Matthews Boa bag for the perfect counterweight. Adorama is great as usual. Love the customer service and order status communication.

Only gave this 4 stars because it is a little difficult to handle with a Profoto D2 head and large softbox attached and extended out over your subject. A little bend with that much weight and you have to be careful when setting up, adjusting etc. due to weight of lights and modifiers but worth the effort. I think for this price point you're not going to find anything better and with care, it gets the job done.

I use this boom with a c-stand and Ithe works great. I even bought a second one to replace my boom lightstands. there is a hook on the end that allows for me to counterbalance with my sandbags.

After much researching I bought this unit because it offers variable leangth with higher load rating. Be prepared with 25 lb sand bag when extending to full leangth to counter balance properly, using the combination of 10 and 15lb bags is better. Excellent build, quality shows. Needed about 8.5 lbs rating but decided a higher rated boom.. Great value for the rated load handling ability.

Works well. You have to remember a bit of physics to use it properly and safely, but it's good to get the brain working in that area again. My only wish is that the adjustment pieces had a little resistance, almost like an air-cushion feel. Otherwise, it's great.

I bought this boom to go with my Bowens Esprit Gemini 500WS strobe which is rather heavy (approx 8 lbs). When weighted and balanced on a heavy duty light stand, it locks down tight and there is no flexing. Feels solid even when suspended 9.5' above my subject. Keep in mind the length and weight of this boom isn't great for travelling. Good for studio or location shoots where you can set up once. Make sure to have a stand sturdy enough to handle the combined weight of your accessories and counter-weight. Depending on your strobe, you may want to look at the Avenger F830 or the Avenger E700 swivel so you can hang your light instead of having it rotate freely on the boom's bare spigot.

This is a great boom, I use it on an Avenger 5029 stand. I have use it on numerous Avenger stands including the A5017 and A5033 as well. The boom comes with a built in attachment that will mount to most light stands. I use this boom for an Alien Bee 800 light/flash and a Beauty Dish and yes it does of course have to be sandbagged as well, I use approximately 40 pounds of sand in 2 twenty pound bags. I have used other mods on this boom as well such as very large octaboxes. Great product...
