PABLO S : Shouldn't there be notches on the other side also? I find that I mount my light on the notch side and the other end in my boom stand and that's the end that slips.Joseph F : I don't have this problem. My pin is mounted onto an Impact grip head or the Flashpoint gobo head which is on a Flashpoint C Stand and is securely set in place when I even slightly tighten the head. There is no play in it at all. It may be that you have a defective grip/gobo head. I have several of these pins and they work great for me. I am attaching an image of the C Stands that I use.ANDREW E : Not sure of the question. It should look like the picture. A notch on one side and two on the other.RON F : Dear Pablo, I may not understanding your question adequately, but my Avenger stand does not have notches. Thanks can adjust the height of the stand and the positive n of the boom arm anywhere I like. When Igot my stand I watched some YouTube videos about how to adjust/use these stands. The key point was to have the boom arm to the right—so that as weight was applied to it, it would tighten rather than loosen Hope this helps!! RonChuck H : You can put a locking pin through the hole so that even though it slips it wont fall all the way through... I use this stud with Avenger c-stand and have no problems with slipping...
Shopper : I noticed that various pins have cutouts or indents vs. being smooth throughout. Is this to allow for better grip within the knuckle/clamp? What advantages does this pin have over the standard 6" pin with 5/8-7/8" ends?Jim G : Adding to my previous answer after some more thought … the indents allow lights to securely lock against the pin and prevent them from unwanted rotation on the pin's axis.Jim G : You are exactly correct about allowing for a better grip. In researching this purchase, I read somewhere about a grip department actually custom machining any pins that did not have that feature.Darren S : The recessed area is for secure contact with a tie down on the receiver. The hole is for a cotter pin when rigging lights inverted.MIGUEL G : Hi thanks for the question, as for me i prefer the indentation because it allows the flash head to stay on position when adding a heavy modifier and you want it angle like 45 degrees rather than straight on like 90 degrees. when using the smooth pins you have to apply more force to prevent them from slipping. hopes this answers your question.
Sadek I : is this equivalent to Falcon Eyes Spigot for C-Stand?Donald D : I am not familiar with the Falcon Eyes Spigot but I use these studs on my C-stands to mount my studio strobes. I have not had any problems mounting the strobes regardless of the type modifier I may be using at that time.

Simple and Essential Tool

You might not think how important a 5/8" pin is until you don't have one. These are great and very versatile with female threads on the ends and long enough to sit all the way through a standard grip head. You can never have enough of these in your kit.

Good purchase

I have a neewer vision 4 strobe, when I got the baby pin, I tries to fit it in the area where it has the two notches, and the radious of the strobe was smaller, but luckily fit the order side, and still feels safe and sturdy.

Would buy again

The construction of this baby pin feels very strong like a solid piece of metal. I placed a 36" softbox on it and it held up. I don't foresee it getting worn down over time.
