Before diving into the details, let's introduce the Corvid HEVC 4K and Multi-Channel HEVC Encoder Card. This high-performance PCIe 2.0 8-lane video encoder card delivers real-time, low-latency HEVC encoding at 4K, 1080p HD, and lower resolutions. It's an ideal solution for developers who can utilize AJA's robust SDK to seamlessly integrate the Corvid HEVC into their Windows and Linux applications, offering a flexible API for a diverse range of use cases.
The Corvid HEVC Encoder Card is designed for 4K/UHD encoding. It accepts a baseband 4K signal via its four 3G-SDI inputs, either as quadrants or sample interleaves. The card extracts embedded audio and metadata while sending the image to the encoder. The encoded image, audio, and metadata are then relayed to the host system for use in the software application.
In multi-channel encoding mode, each input is treated as a separate, independent channel. The processing is similar to the 4K mode, but duplicated for each incoming channel. Each channel can perform scaling and encoding to standard video resolutions asynchronously, allowing individual channels to stop and start at any time.
The Corvid HEVC Encoder Card also supports file-to-file encoding. In this workflow, the incoming video is read from a file on the host system, bypassing the hardware BNC connections on the card. The image can be scaled and de-interlaced onboard before being transferred to the encoder. The card can handle up to four simultaneous, independent files, decoding, scaling, and encoding them using a single Corvid HEVC card.
Audio and metadata processing is performed in parallel with video HEVC encoding and passed via the SDK to the host software. This unique feature allows the Corvid HEVC to deliver all the source data directly from the card to your software, eliminating the need for multiple pathways.
In addition to real-time encoding, the Corvid HEVC also functions as a standard video capture card, bringing SDI video and embedded audio into the system. All supported video input formats can be captured directly to the host system in a variety of file formats.
Finally, AJA's Developer Program allows partner companies to incorporate AJA products into their systems. By utilizing existing, proven video I/O devices, Developer Partners can leverage AJA's expertise to develop and support these technologies, saving money and getting their integrated products to market more quickly. The Corvid HEVC 4K and Multi-Channel HEVC Encoder Card is not just a product, but a powerful platform for development partners.
