expensive disposable headphones

Headphones are great while they work. However AKG/Harman considers these headphones disposable. Over time they will likely develop a failure others have mentioned in reviews on the manufacturers website where the sound starts cutting in and out. If this happens to you before the warranty expires, then great you can send it in and they will repair it. However, if the warranty expired you have no options, apparently they don't offer any kind of paid repair or servicing for these headphones after the warranty. For something this expensive that's supposed to be a "professional" product, I expected some kind of out of warranty service options but apparently they don't exist. When contacting AKG support about this issue a Harman representative told me "we do not service them out of warranty, therefore we would not be able to further assist you with this unit"
