I've known AKG K240's for a LONG time and always been a favorite headphone - but I never owned them myself. I used them as a college radio DJ and always loved their comfort, their sound and the convenience of the detachable cable (plus it's nice and long which my prior headphones lacked - not fun when you use them for drumming and they yank off your head). I've been totally happy with the deal and the headphones - sound, comfort and value!

This is the third pair I?ve bought of these headphones, and the quality is still excellent. Partially open and fairly light. I think the sound is quite accurate. You can hear sounds around you to some extent, but I like the openness of the sound they provide. Fairly light weight and comfortable for long listening times.

Great sound with long cable length. Only thing not great is after 25-30 minutes of listening the ears feeling hot.

Have been a fan of the AKG 240's since my first pair in the 1980s. Clean bass and airy but not shrill highs make this headphone one can use all day without fatigue.

Cool looking and nice quality. Clear and clean tonal sound from highs and lows. It totally covers my ears, now able to listen to music or videos and not get as hot as my Sony headphones. Great headphones to play music.

These are the EXACT model headphones used in many of the recording studios in our area. I purchased them for on-stage monitoring of my instruments in our band. They work extremely well and sound great, with no distortion or signal overload! AKG has always been a name to look to for professional quality musical equipment, and these headphones do not disappoint!

While the sound is pretty good, my only complaint is that the noise leak from the semi-open back is pretty bad. My roommate across the room could hear my music through my headphones

I purchased these headphones at the recommendation of my boss, who loves them. We QC audiobooks for a variety of publishing houses. Comfortable, very. With regular headphones my scalp gets a little tender, creating a pressure point at the crown of my head. These are different and better, they have a wide soft cloth/leather band over the top of the head for a broad, well-distributed weight. Ear phones are comfortable, not restrictive, my ears never feel squished. Great quality. I could hear every syllable, every glitch, every overly-moist inhale, every pencil drop. I hope you listen to some of our work, it's all the better for these headphones.

Like Yamaha NS10Ms the AKG K240S phones have existed in almost all recording studios and continue to be easy on the ears.

From periods of long-wearing comfort to over-all sound quality . . . these are GREAT for the dollar invested. NOT quite as good as the "ORIGINAL" from way back when, (1970's??). But, I am passed my peak hearing capability, at 65. Only real 'disappointment'? As with ALL corded headphones, the cord should be about 6 feet longer!!! Charge ME MORE for Pete sake!!!

Bought these to replace some Shure 440s. Great neutral sound with lower bass response. As these are open, you can hear everything coming in and out. Don't get them if you need even modest sound isolation. They don't quit stack up in make and sound quality to the 440, but are more comfortable and nearly half the price

I bought this headset as a replacement for a Superex Headset bought in the mid-1960's. Yes! it still works. However, its pretty heavy and uncomfortable for my olds head. I've used the AKG headset for shooting games on the computer, music on my home theater system and streamed music on the net. The AKG is comfortable, and reproduces both music, movie dialog and sound effects well. It also stops the noise from my wife when she yells "lower the noise" It also cost a lot less than what I paid for the Superex.

I'm not a crazed audiophile, but they sound terrific and are very comfortable. For the sale price of ($) they are a very good deal.

I've owned a number of over-the-ear headphones over the years and they are always a compromise to some extent. Closed design are great for sound isolation (in both directions) but they tend to get warm with extended listening. These are semi-open, which means others can hear at least something, but not much more than with more open ear-bud types. Plus you get to hear a bit more of what's going on around you than with closed design. But my ears stay cooler, which is a plus as I don't want discomfort when listening for long periods of time. Sound quality on these is very clean and flat. Others have commented about the mids being weak, which I didn't find to be the case. Bass is natural, not overly heavy, and free of distortion. Highs are crisp without being biting. I have a few minor nits about construction and I'm unsure about their long-term durability, but they seem reasonably well built and there's nothing about them that says to me I'm buying low-end headphones. They are at least good enough to keep me from wanting to spend more (possibly much more) for phones that probably don't sound any better -- or in the case of some trendy brands (you know who you are) actually sound worse. Get a pair.
