Hey, I’m Rick Sammon. I’m in the middle of nowhere Ohio in this beautiful barn, with our beautiful model Kristen. If you’re into people photography the number one accessory that you want to have is a reflector/diffuser kit. On a sunny day, that diffuser will diffuse the harsh sunlight and give you beautiful flat lighting like we have here. What the reflector does is it fills in shadows.

Now, we have our friend Brandon over here, we’re gonna use the silver side of the reflector to fill in some of the shadows. This shot is nice enough; this shot is called Rembrandt lighting, what you are looking at right now; light coming in from the side. With the reflector here, we’re going to bounce some light in here, look at how the scene changes. This is the silver side. I usually prefer the silver side of the reflector because it gives you a natural type of lighting. Let’s see what happens with the gold reflector.

So the thing is, with all photography, it’s very very subjective. Sometimes you wanna add the shadows sometimes you want to fill in the shadows. I was photographing Kristen before with the reflector, look how nice this shot looks. Then I took it out, I also like this shot with the shadows. So, if you are into people photography, again the number one accessory you want to have with you, I always have it with me, is the reflector/diffuser kit.
