Laowa has launched several unique optics into the market over the past several years that have been welcomed by photographers around the world. Having launched many successful products, they have become even more driven to develop more unique lenses. Laowa hopes to share this passion and drive even further by announcing four new Laowa MFT Cine lenses and bundle packages that complement filmmakers with MFT cameras, such as the Panasonic Lumix GH6 Camera. These include a 6mm, 10mm, 17mm, and 50mm lenses.
If you don’t already know about the Micro Four Thirds (MFT) system, its greatest appeal is its ability to offer high image quality, compactness, and lightness in a camera that can be used anywhere and anytime. A wide range of lenses from different manufacturers makes the open standard flexible, operable, and usable. As a compact system, it’s also perfect for full-scale video shooting. Let’s go over everything we know about the new Laowa MFT Cine lens lineup so far.
Laowa MFT Cine Lenses Packages:
- 6mm T2.1 Zero-D, 58mm Front Filter Size

Laowa 6mm T2.1 Zero-D MFT Cine Lens
Featuring the widest rectilinear MFT lens with Zero-D technology available, the Laowa 6mm T2.1 Cine Lens is a breakthrough new optic design. A 121.9° ultra-wide angle of view for MFT users provides a broad shooting range. Under low-light conditions, the T2.1 aperture allows for the capture of sharp and impressive images. Furthermore, it boasts a close focusing distance of 9cm / 3.54 inches (from subject to the sensor). It’s very light and compact, weighing just 180g/6.35oz, which means it’s ideal for use with drones.
Laowa 10mm T2.1 Zero-D MFT Cine Lens
The Laowa 10mm T2.1 Zero-D Cine Lens offers ultra-wide-angle coverage up to 96° on an MFT system. The tiny size and lightweight are perfect for both MFT cameras and gimbals. With the new Cine version, 0.8 mm mod gears are standard on both the aperture and focus rings. Corner-to-corner sharpness is exceptional, with almost no distortion.
Laowa 17mm T1.9 MFT Cine Lens
A 17mm Laowa T1.9 MFT Cine Lens provides the equivalent of a 34mm field of view on a full-frame sensor. Working with close-up subjects in detail is facilitated by this lens’ 5.9 in. (15 cm.) minimum focusing distance. Both apertures and focus rings on the new Cine version feature 0.8 mod gears.
Laowa 50mm T2.9 Macro APO MFT Cine Lens
Laowa’s 50mm T2.9 Macro APO MFT Cine Lens is one of the few macro photography and portrait Cine lenses optimized for MFT cameras. It is the only macro lens on the market that has a 2:1 maximum magnification and was designed specifically for MFT cameras. With the apochromatic (APO) design, chromatic aberration is eliminated. Compact and lightweight, at only 289g, this is an ideal choice for macro and portrait style images.
