At this year’s National Association of Broadcasters convention, Chinese manufacturer DJI proudly raised the curtain on their mammoth new drone, the Matrice 600. Created with larger budgeted video and film projects in mind, the Matrice (“M600” for short) can fly with a weight of up to 6 kg. That’s a little over 13 lbs for those of us living stateside. In other words, there’s room for an addition like the Ronin-M gimbal and a RED Epic.

DJI – Introducing the Matrice 600

That full HD sensor camera isn’t the only weight the M600 will carry as it comes with the hefty price tag of $4599. However, it can fly up to 36 minutes with a smaller camera like the Zenmuse or up to 15 minutes with a larger cam like the RED series.

DJI also announced the upgrade to their Ronin series of gimbles, the Ronin-MX. Described as “openly compatible” it is designed to mount on any stabilization device. The MX also contains a slip ring allowing 360 degree rotation of your camera. DJI has also increased the tilt axis from 90 degrees to 135 degrees. The Ronin-MX will support larger cameras like the RED Weapon and ARRI ALEXA Mini thus making it the perfect companion rig to the M600. Should you want to purchase both at the same time, you can do so for just $5999.

If you weren’t lucky enough to get up close and personal with DJI’s latest products at NAB 2016, you can get more information on the Matrice 600 here and the Ronin-MX here.
