I am using these primarily for document storage and like the thick, quality card stock these are made of. Because the manufacturer of the envelopes I previously used is gone, I researched these thoroughly before making my purchase decision (I am using these for fragile 18th and 19th century originals). The seams on these envelopes are sealed with pH-neutral adhesive, and since the seams are sealed on the outside, they do not come into direct contact with the materials stored in them. The card stock itself is also acid and lignin free, making them safe for archival purposes. The only thing I would have liked to see are the same quality envelopes with an opening on the long side - it would be easier and safer for my fragile documents if I had a wider opening, but that's personal preference only and likely does not apply to the storage of photographs. Other than that: I am very happy with these envelopes and recommend them.

Archival Methods Flap Envelopes are perfect for storing items like newspaper clippings and photographs. The flap, located on the long side, securely holds contents in place. Made from heavyweight cardstock, these envelopes prevent "fanning," helping to protect your items from potential damage.
