Where quality and durability meet, the Archival Methods Museum Board stands out. Crafted from 100% pure cotton fiber, this 5x7 inch bright white museum board is a testament to superior craftsmanship. Its neutral tone makes it a versatile choice for various photographic printing and mounting needs.
The board is acid-free and lignin-free, incorporating alkaline or neutral sizing for added longevity. It is buffered with calcium carbonate, providing a robust defense against the harmful effects of acid migration from matted work and environmental pollution. This ensures that the pH of the mat board remains stable, preventing it from becoming more acidic over time.
This 4-Ply, 60 Pt. museum board, approximately 1/16" thick, is made from 100% cotton fiber pulp, with 99% Alpha Cellulose. It is free of post-consumer waste recycled pulp, metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. The sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, and the iron content does not exceed 150ppm, while copper does not exceed 6ppm.
The manufacturing process does not use optical brightening agents in the pulp or alum, ensuring the highest quality product. The board is buffered with calcium carbonate, maintaining a 2-3% alkaline reserve, and a pH of 9 +/-0.5. This acid-free board is designed with color dyes that are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring that your prints and documents retain their original colors for a long time.
This museum board will not degrade or cause harm to your mounted matted artwork. It passes the Photographic Activity Test (PAT) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), and the lignin content is tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85, with a Kappa number of less than five.
The single ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, ensuring a sturdy and durable surface for your prints and documents. Ideal for matting, mounting, and preservation of fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs, this 4-Ply board provides a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing, offering a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage.
