Enhance your photography or printing projects with the Archival Methods Museum Board, a premium product designed for professionals who demand the highest quality materials. Crafted from 100% cotton fiber, this bright white museum board offers a neutral tone, perfect for showcasing your artwork, photographs, or precious documents.
This 8-Ply, 120 Pt. museum board, approximately 1/8" thick, is constructed from 99% Alpha Cellulose, ensuring a sturdy and durable surface that can withstand handling and display without tearing or wrinkling. It is free of post-consumer waste recycled pulp, metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide, making it a safe and reliable choice for your archival needs.
The Archival Methods Museum Board is acid- and lignin-free, incorporating both internal and external alkaline sizing without the use of alum in the manufacturing process. Buffered with calcium carbonate, it provides a 2-3% alkaline reserve and maintains a pH level of 9 +/-0.5. This ensures protection from the harmful effects of acid migration from matted work and from environmental pollutants that could cause the pH of the mat board to decrease over time.
Notably, no optical brightening agents are used in the pulp, preserving the integrity of your artwork. The sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, and the iron content does not exceed 150ppm, with copper not exceeding 6ppm.
The single ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, further enhancing the board's durability. This museum board passes the stringent Photographic Activity Test (PAT) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), ensuring it will not degrade and cause harm to your mounted matted artwork.
Ideal for matting, mounting, and preservation of fine prints, documents, and both traditional and digital photographs, the Archival Methods Museum Board provides a 1/8" separation between your artwork and its glazing, offering a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage. Trust in the quality and durability of this museum board to protect and showcase your most valuable pieces.
