While the Archival Methods Museum Board is crafted from 100% pure cotton fiber, its Antique White shade offers a warm, yellow/ivory tone. This 4-ply, 60 pt. museum board is acid-free and lignin-free, ensuring the longevity of your precious documents, fine prints, and both traditional and digital photographs.
The board incorporates both internal and external alkaline sizing, without the use of alum in the manufacturing process. This feature, along with the buffering with calcium carbonate, safeguards your artwork from the harmful effects of acid migration and environmental pollution. The board maintains a 2-3% alkaline reserve and a pH level of 9 +/-0.5, which prevents the pH of the mat board from decreasing and becoming more acidic over time.
The 5x7" Museum Board is free from optical brightening agents, metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. It also boasts a sulfur content of less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, with iron content not exceeding 150ppm and copper not exceeding 6ppm.
The color dyes used are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring that the board's color remains vibrant and does not bleed onto your artwork. The board is constructed using all-natural starch adhesive, ensuring that the single ply sheets are securely laminated together.
This 4-ply board is recommended for window mats and mat backing, providing a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing. This separation ensures a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage.
The board's lignin content is tested by TAPPI 236cm-85 and has a Kappa number of less than five, indicating its high quality. Moreover, the board passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), further testifying to its suitability for preserving your valuable pieces.
In summary, the 5x7" 4-Ply Antique White 100% Cotton Museum Board, available in a pack of 25, is an excellent choice for matting, mounting, and preserving your valuable artwork and documents.
