Be assured of the quality and longevity of your fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs with the Archival Methods Museum Board. Crafted from 100% pure cotton fiber pulp, this Warm White Museum Board offers a warm tone without a yellow cast, ensuring the true colors of your artwork are preserved.
This museum-quality board is acid-free and lignin-free, incorporating both internal and external alkaline sizing for added protection. It's buffered with calcium carbonate, providing a 2-3% alkaline reserve and maintaining a pH level of 9 +/-0.5. This buffering process safeguards your artwork from the harmful effects of acid migration and environmental pollution, which can cause the pH of the mat board to decrease and become more acidic over time.
The Archival Methods Museum Board is free of optical brightening agents, post-consumer waste recycled pulp, metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. Its sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, while its iron content does not exceed 150ppm and copper does not exceed 6ppm.
The color dyes used are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring the board will not degrade or cause harm to your mounted matted artwork. This board has passed the rigorous Photographic Activity Test (PAT) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), a testament to its superior quality.
The lignin content is tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85 and has a Kappa number of less than five, indicating a low likelihood of yellowing or becoming brittle over time. The single-ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, further enhancing the board's archival quality.
Ideal for matting, mounting, and preservation, the 4-Ply Archival Methods Museum Board provides a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing. This separation ensures a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage, making it the perfect choice for window mats and mat backing.
