An exceptional choice for photographers, artists, and printmakers, the Archival Methods Museum Board is a premium, 100% cotton fiber product designed to protect and enhance your valuable works. This 12x16 inch Warm White Museum Board, available in a pack of 25, boasts a pleasing warm tone without any yellow cast, ensuring your artwork or photographs maintain their true colors.
Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, this museum-grade board is acid-free and lignin-free, incorporating alkaline or neutral sizing for added longevity. It's buffered with calcium carbonate, providing a robust defense against the damaging effects of acid migration from matted works or a polluted environment. This protective feature helps maintain the pH of the mat board, preventing it from becoming more acidic over time.
The Archival Methods Museum Board is free of optical brightening agents, ensuring the integrity and authenticity of your artwork. It's made from 100% cotton fiber pulp (99% Alpha Cellulose), with no post-consumer waste recycled pulp, metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, or residual bleach peroxide. The sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, and the iron content does not exceed 150ppm, while copper does not exceed 6ppm.
This professional-grade board uses alkaline sizing for both internal and external sizing, with no alum used in the manufacturing process. It's buffered with calcium carbonate 2-3% alkaline reserve, maintaining a pH of 9 +/-0.5. The color dyes are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring your artwork remains vibrant and unaffected by time.
The 4-ply construction of this board provides a sturdy, supportive backing for your artwork, creating a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing. This separation is crucial for both display and storage purposes, preventing degradation and harm to your mounted matted artwork. The board passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), and its lignin content has a Kappa number of less than five, as tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85.
Whether you're matting, mounting, or preserving fine prints, precious documents, traditional or digital photographs, the Archival Methods Museum Board is a reliable, high-quality choice that ensures your work is presented and preserved in the best possible way.
