For professional photographers and printmakers seeking a reliable and high-quality solution for their work, the Archival Methods Museum Board is an exceptional choice. Crafted from 100% pure cotton fiber, this Natural White Museum Board boasts a subtle cream tone that enhances the visual appeal of your prints and photographs.
This sturdy 4-ply board is acid-free and lignin-free, ensuring your artwork remains protected from the harmful effects of acid migration and environmental pollution. It's buffered with calcium carbonate to maintain a stable pH level, preventing the board from becoming more acidic over time.
Unlike many alternatives, our Museum Board is free from optical brightening agents, ensuring the authenticity and longevity of your artwork. The board is made from 99% Alpha Cellulose pulp, devoid of any post-consumer waste recycled pulp. It's also free from metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide, ensuring the purity of the board.
The board's alkaline sizing is used for both internal and external sizing, with no alum used in the manufacturing process. This ensures the board's durability and resistance to wear and tear. The board is also buffered with a 2-3% alkaline reserve, maintaining a pH of 9 +/-0.5, making it acid-free and safe for your artwork.
The color dyes used in the Museum Board are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring the vibrancy and integrity of your prints and photographs over time. The board is designed to not degrade or cause harm to your mounted matted artwork.
This Museum Board passes the rigorous Photographic Activity Test (PAT) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), ensuring its suitability for preserving fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs. The lignin content is tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85 and has a Kappa number of less than five, further attesting to its quality and durability.
The single-ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, making it ideal for matting, mounting, and preservation. For window mats and mat backing, we recommend using this 4-Ply board, which creates a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing, providing a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage.
In summary, the Archival Methods Museum Board is a durable, high-quality, and professional choice for preserving and showcasing your artwork.
