Bring your photography and printing projects to life with the Archival Methods Museum Board. Crafted from 100% cotton fiber, this 5x7 Natural White Museum Board offers a subtle cream tone that enhances the visual appeal of your prints. The board is acid-free and lignin-free, ensuring your artwork remains vibrant and unharmed over time.
The board incorporates alkaline or neutral sizing, providing a robust and durable surface that resists wear and tear. It's buffered with calcium carbonate, offering additional protection against acid migration from matted work and environmental pollutants. This feature helps maintain the pH of the mat board, preventing it from becoming more acidic with age.
Unlike other boards, the Archival Methods Museum Board does not use optical brightening agents in its manufacturing process. The pulp is 100% cotton fiber (99% Alpha Cellulose), free of metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. The sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, and the iron and copper contents do not exceed 150ppm and 6ppm respectively.
The board uses alkaline sizing for both internal and external sizing, without the use of alum in the manufacturing process. It's buffered with calcium carbonate 2-3% alkaline reserve, ensuring a pH of 9 +/-0.5, and is acid-free. The color dyes used are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring the longevity of your prints.
The Archival Methods Museum Board is designed to not degrade or cause harm to mounted matted artwork. It passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), guaranteeing its archival quality. The lignin content is tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85 and has a Kappa number of less than five.
The single ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, making it an ideal choice for matting, mounting, and preserving fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs. For window mats and mat backing, this 4-Ply board is recommended as it creates a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing, providing a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage.
Choose the Archival Methods Museum Board for a professional, high-quality, and reliable solution for your photography and printing needs.
