Why settle for less when you can have the best The Archival Methods Museum Board is a premium, 100% cotton fiber product, designed with the utmost attention to detail and quality. This Polar White Museum Board boasts a cool tone with a subtle blue shift, providing a visually pleasing backdrop for your artwork or photographs.
Constructed to be acid- and lignin-free, this museum board incorporates alkaline or neutral sizing, ensuring your precious works are protected from the harmful effects of acid migration. The board is also buffered with calcium carbonate, offering additional protection against environmental pollutants that could potentially lower the pH of the mat board and make it more acidic over time.
This 4-Ply, 60 Pt. museum board is approximately 1/16" thick and made from 100% cotton fiber pulp, with 99% Alpha Cellulose. It is free from post-consumer waste recycled pulp, metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. The sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, and the iron content does not exceed 150ppm, while copper does not exceed 6ppm.
No optical brightening agents are used in the pulp, and both internal and external sizing use alkaline. The manufacturing process is free from alum, and the board is buffered with calcium carbonate 2-3% alkaline reserve, pH 9 +/-0.5, making it acid-free.
The color dyes used are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring the board will not degrade or cause harm to your mounted artwork. This museum board passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), and the lignin content is tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85, with a Kappa number of less than five.
The single ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, making this board ideal for matting, mounting, and preserving fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs. For window mats and mat backing, we recommend using this 4-Ply board, which creates a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing, providing a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage.
In conclusion, the Archival Methods Museum Board is not just a product; it's a promise of quality, durability, and professional presentation for your cherished works.
