Before you settle for any ordinary museum board, consider the Archival Methods Museum Board 13x19 Polar White 4 Ply. This high-quality, professional-grade board is crafted from 100% pure cotton fiber, ensuring its durability and longevity. Its Polar White hue exhibits a cool tone with a subtle blue shift, providing a unique aesthetic appeal to your prints and photographs.
This premium museum board is acid-free and lignin-free, incorporating alkaline or neutral sizing for added protection. It's buffered with calcium carbonate, safeguarding your precious works from acid migration and environmental pollution that could potentially lower the pH of the mat board over time, making it more acidic.
Unlike many alternatives, this museum board does not use optical brightening agents in its manufacturing process. Its 4-Ply, 60 Pt. (Approximately 1/16") thickness is made from 99% Alpha Cellulose cotton fiber pulp, free of post-consumer waste recycled pulp, metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. The sulfur content is less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, and the iron content does not exceed 150ppm, with copper not exceeding 6ppm.
The board's alkaline sizing is used for both internal and external sizing, with no alum used in the manufacturing process. It's buffered with 2-3% calcium carbonate alkaline reserve, maintaining a pH of 9 +/-0.5, ensuring it remains acid-free. The color dyes used are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring your artwork remains vibrant and true to its original colors.
This museum board is designed to not degrade over time, ensuring no harm comes to your mounted matted artwork. It passes the PAT (Photographic Activity Test) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), and its lignin content, tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85, has a Kappa number of less than five.
The single ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, making this board ideal for matting, mounting, and preservation of fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs. For window mats and mat backing, this 4-Ply board is recommended, creating a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing, providing a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage.
In summary, the Archival Methods Museum Board 13x19 Polar White 4 Ply is a versatile, durable, and high-quality choice for professionals seeking superior performance and longevity from their museum board.
