Discover the superior quality of the Archival Methods Museum Board, meticulously crafted from 100% cotton fiber. This Polar White Museum Board boasts a cool tone with a subtle blue shift, making it an ideal choice for professional presentations and displays.
Designed with longevity in mind, this acid-free and lignin-free museum board incorporates alkaline or neutral sizing, ensuring your artwork remains protected from the damaging effects of acid migration and environmental pollution. The board's pH is carefully maintained to prevent it from becoming more acidic over time, preserving the integrity of your matted work.
This 4-Ply, 60 Pt. Museum Board, approximately 1/16" thick, is made from 99% Alpha Cellulose cotton fiber pulp, free from post-consumer waste recycled pulp. The manufacturing process guarantees a paper devoid of metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. The sulfur content is kept below 0.0008% reducible sulfur, while iron and copper content do not exceed 150ppm and 6ppm respectively.
The Archival Methods Museum Board is created without the use of optical brightening agents in the pulp, ensuring a natural and authentic look. Both internal and external sizing are achieved using alkaline sizing, with no alum used in the manufacturing process. The board is buffered with calcium carbonate, providing a 2-3% alkaline reserve and maintaining a pH of 9 +/-0.5.
The color dyes used are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring your artwork retains its vibrancy over time. This board is designed to not degrade or cause harm to your mounted matted artwork, passing the rigorous Photographic Activity Test (PAT) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16).
The lignin content of this board is tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85 and has a Kappa number of less than five, further attesting to its high-quality construction. The single ply sheets are laminated together using an all-natural starch adhesive, making this board an excellent choice for matting, mounting, and preserving fine prints, precious documents, and both traditional and digital photographs.
For optimal window mats and mat backing, Archival Methods recommends using this 4-Ply board. It creates a 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing, providing a flat, supportive backing for both display and storage. Experience the durability and professional quality of the Archival Methods Museum Board for your next project.
