After careful crafting, the Archival Methods Museum Board emerges as a superior choice for preserving and presenting your valuable prints, documents, and photographs. This 5x7 Polar White Museum Board, with its distinctive cool tone and subtle blue shift, is meticulously manufactured from 100% pure cotton fiber pulp, ensuring a product that is 99% Alpha Cellulose and free from post-consumer waste recycled pulp.
The board's composition is meticulously controlled to exclude any metal particles, waxes, plasticizers, and residual bleach peroxide. It boasts a sulfur content of less than 0.0008% reducible sulfur, while its iron content does not exceed 150ppm and copper remains below 6ppm. This attention to detail ensures a product that is free from any elements that could compromise the integrity of your artwork.
The Museum Board is acid-free and lignin-free, incorporating both internal and external alkaline sizing without the use of alum. It is buffered with calcium carbonate, maintaining a 2-3% alkaline reserve and a pH level of 9 +/-0.5. This buffering process safeguards your artwork from the harmful effects of acid migration and environmental pollution, which could cause the pH of the mat board to decrease over time.
The color dyes used in the Museum Board are light-fast and non-bleeding, ensuring the board's color remains consistent and does not interfere with your artwork. The board is also free from optical brightening agents, further preserving the original color and integrity of your pieces.
This 4-Ply, 60 Pt. Museum Board, approximately 1/16" in thickness, provides a sturdy and flat backing for your artwork, creating an optimal 1/16" separation between your artwork and its glazing. This separation is crucial for both display and storage purposes, preventing any potential damage to your artwork.
The Archival Methods Museum Board passes the rigorous Photographic Activity Test (PAT) ISO IT 18916 (formerly ISO 14523 ANSI IT9.16), and its lignin content, tested by TAPPI 236 cm-85, has a Kappa number of less than five. This ensures that the board will not degrade over time, providing a safe and stable environment for your precious artwork.
Whether you're matting, mounting, or preserving fine prints, precious documents, traditional or digital photographs, the Archival Methods Museum Board is a reliable choice for professionals and hobbyists alike.
