I've been running this APC Smart-UPS On-Line 5.4kVA for over a year now in our small data center, and it's been absolutely fantastic. What I love most is the true online design - during power fluctuations and outages, our servers never experience even the slightest interruption, which is critical for our 24/7 operations. The 3U form factor is perfect for our space-constrained rack, giving us serious power protection without eating up valuable rack real estate like larger units would. The mix of L6-20R and L6-30R outlets perfectly matched our server and storage equipment requirements, and the extended runtime feature has saved us multiple times during longer outages - we easily get 45+ minutes of runtime with our full load. A certain VA uses these all the time and due to flexible options and manageability, this unit can exceed ones expectation. Great standby time, Form Factor as well as unit comes with Rails for rack mounting. Thing is a beast, but but also quite small for what it can really do

This unit is a nice size and fits well within a rack system. The apc - APC Smart-UPS On-Line, 5.4kVA, Rackmount 3U, 208V, 2x L6-20R+2x L6-30R NEMA outlets, Network Card+SmartSlot, Extended runtime, W/ rail kit [TAA] is priced reasonably and serves as a reliable addition to any IT application. Unit is easy to mount. Paired with the smart slot network card as well as the wireless communication adapter, there is a great sense of peace of mind provided by this unit. For our IT professionals, there are many benefits to be gained with the use of this unit. The display is well visible and easy to navigate through the options and settings. The values as well as run time are easy to keep track of. There are many applications that this unit would be helpful with. Battery replacements are simple to do. Maintenance is easy as well. The environmentally conscious manufacturing makes this a great buy. Worth it on many levels.

My equipment is an extension of me so I want to protect it! My Hybrid Cloud setup is perfect for my cluster of Nodes. I had to purchase separate 120 Volt step DOWN transformer(s) for all of my server equipment. That was a better fit for my needs. Only my D3284 had a 208 Volt plug which plugged directly in the back of the APC. The rest of the Server nodes are 120v plugs which plugged into the step down transformer and the transformer plugged into the APC. Living in NYC the power grid from Con Ed has become scary like the crime and similar to a third world power provider. Some serious Voltage drops have occurred regularly all the way down to 108 Volts which burns up equipment with higher amps. Basically, since Volts X Amps = Watts when the voltage drops like it does then the amps ramp up. Sizzle Sizzle, and bye bye equipment. We had times where the power went off and on quickly like a kid on the light switch. Since my goal was to protect my equipment. I believe I may need an external battery pack but put it off because I built a "Generator Quiet Box for Emergency Power," so I need maybe 5 minutes of lead time that's it! I wrote a simple script that will Call me on the phone, Text me, Email me, and even have a red flashing siren when the power fails. What I really value is that the APC unit has dry contacts whereas I setup a "Normally closed setup to my smoke detectors." If the temperature rises rapidly to 170F/ or smoke inside my APC 42U then the apc will automatically shut off all the power and the smoke detector will signal a traveler to my other smokes. I also have a clean agent setup a must have for the ultimate fire detection and prevention. In addition, I have netbotz with multiple temp sensors total overkill buy hey that's me. Pros: the APC is it takes a beating and keeps going handles dirty power of CON Ed and the little kid flipping the power switch off and on daily. Negative: lead Acid does not last long but it is much safer to use than anything out there today. You bet I researched this. LIP is the next best thing.

For the quality and reputation of the hardware you think they'd put some effort into making it manageable. I can't say enough about how difficult and time consuming this product is to manage notifications on.

Not every application for a high quality & high capacity, 208V UPS requires rackmounting. In fact, I have used this UPS in many medical and industrial locations where a free-standing, floor type UPS was required. It has the same dual conversion circuit configuration as the rackmount version, for the absolute best performance. Note that it is a hard wired input connection, however.

Certainly for SRT units, at the minimum. Above this model, most UPSes are hard-wired. Dual Conversion topology and a color backlighted LCD display make this UPS very hard to beat! One of my favorite UPSes.

Six months ago we replaced some aging UPSs in our server room with new APC SRT5KVA units in a redundant configuration. Today we had a power failure. The units operated as designed. If the lights hadn't gone out, we may not have even noticed.
