The Light Storm 300x is Aputure's latest point-source LED and is the first bi-color Bowens mount light fixture to be compatible with optical lens modifiers. By combining the latest optical color blending technology with Aputure's dual-color LED chipset, the LS 300x can utilize the Fresnel 2X and Spotlight Mount to give you unprecedented flexibility from a single fixture. With a simple turn of a dial or press of a button, you can adjust the fixture's white light CCT output between 2700K-6500K in just seconds. And utilizing the same robust lamp head and control box design as the 300d II, this light is built to handle any filmmaking challenge.The First of Its KindThe 300x is Aputure's latest flagship Light Storm LED fixture, finally integrating properly mixed variable-white lighting into an easily modifiable point-source light engine. The 300x features a specially designed color-blending optical element in front of its LED light source, combining the bi-color chipset into one cohesive point-source. The combination of this new technology, along with the Aputure ecosystem, allows you to achieve bi-color flexibility never before experienced with Aputure products.Enhanced OutputWith the Fresnel 2X, the LS 300x can produce over 56,000 lux at 1 meter, creating a stunningly bright light, with CCT control always at your fingertips. By having the ability to use lensed modifiers like the Fresnel 2X or the Spotlight Mount, in addition to soft light modifiers like the Light Dome II, you can achieve extreme lighting precision to match any shooting environment. It's one of the OG industry led lights. I cut my teeth on these with an employee doing commercial work. Finally pulled the trigger and bought one of my own. Check out the 600x or 600c next.

Love this light. The music studio I work at has 7 of these and I bought my own just to have one on me always.

As I mentioned I work in a music studio so noise is always a concern. These lights have never caused issues in sessions even with hours of operation.

Coming from the 300D mark I, the 300X outshines it by far! *pun intented* The light is very versatile. Our favorite thing about this light is the ability to change color temperature at ease. A plus feature is the ability to mimic effects such as TV, fires and other light effects. We definitely recommend this product!

Great Light

This is a modern marvel. Aputure makes high quality lighting and their remote control app makes it all the more perfect.  Sure, you can pay four times as much - or worse, buy cheap - but do you really want to?  I love these lights.  They are well balanced, relatively light weight. The bracketry and knobworks, if those are words, are robust and will take a lot of use. They are just plain cool to work with.

I'm glad I invested in the Aputure 300X.

No time like the present.

Easy to use, but has all the bells and whistles you need to light your scene. Paired with the Light Dome II, this is hard to beat.

Love This Light

Upgraded from Smith-Victor CooLED continuous lights and...WOW. They aren't even from the same planet. The output from these lights is incredible. The build quality on the mounting hardware is excellent - able to hold a 55" soft box on the Bowen's mount with ease, no slipping and feels very stable.  The remote feature is a huge plus and very intuitive.  I love that you can adjust their output by 1% increments - helps you just really nail the exposure.  The case that it comes in is great too and very high quality.  My only negative comments would be that the build quality on the dials is a bit lacking in comparison to the rest of the fixture, and that some of the effects are not very believable.  Overall - great light, and if you can afford it, buy it.

Great bi-color LED!

Quiet, strong, bi-color, affordables and really well-built, with remote control. This is just the light that I've waited for. I'm using it for both stills and video.

All-around amazing light.

The output of this light is incredible, and being able to use the app to change temperature and intensity is a huge time saver. I would highly recommend getting some kind of diffusion with this light because it is bright. We used it with a China ball attachment to light a nighttime interior (Hollywood dark), a decently large bedroom, and it did the job at 15 percent. When we switched to a scene with the lights on we kicked up the intensity a bit and changed the color temp to match the practicals and done. Oh, and it’s surprisingly light for how hard it hits. Love this light.

Incredibly powerful and robust

As advertised. Great product, just wish it was more powerful
but really like the ability to have variable color temperature.
Should be fine for many situations but don’t expect to put a  
soft box on it and compete with bright window in frame in the
background. Good build / design /  light quality and value for            what’s on the market at this time. Looking forward to using it                     with other modifiers like the spot attachment.Can’t wait for a 600x.

Should be a quick ROI

This is an impressive achievement for an LED COB light. The beam is focussed enough to get fairly crisp, high contrast shadows without modifiers. The Bowen mount is spring locked. The fans are whisper quiet. The Sidus app is intuitive, capable and more reliable than the RF remote. The lamp is bright. But, keep in mind that you'll lose a stop or more with a soft box with grid and you'll lose some light when balancing to 3200k. The 300x is bright, but it's not the death ray that YouTubers describe. I'm glad that I bought the 300x and not the 120d. A 300D II would add a half stop more light, but you'd have the hassle of keeping a CTO gel and clothes pins handy for when you have to light at 3200k.

Get yourself a few.

So great. So versatile. It's amazing how much being able to adjust the temp expands your tool kit. Also the effect presets are very interesting. Can't wait to dive in and see if it's possible to really customize them.  

Power supply is heavy, but they include a clamp for the stands so you don't have to hang it loosely like the 300d or 120d versions. Cables are super long and the cases are great.

Why would you NOT get this?

This light works exactly as it says gets bright good tones and really easy to control with the remote or your phone.

Great light little dim

Lived up to my expectations. Although the output is lower than the 300d, when you want a high quality flexible bi-color light that works with all the standard bowens mount modifiers, this is it!

I shoot a lot in front of the green screen, so a variety of lighting options is really nice. Usually the lighting of the background scene is more than one color temperature. Having one of these to play around with and get the temperature needed to match the practical lights in the virtual background scene.

I also really like having the effect modes on all the Aputure lights I have. It's nice to be able to have some quick effects on hand without needing a full DMX setup.

The Aputure Sidus Link app for Android is pretty awesome as well. I can't count the number of terrible apps I have used for products that are otherwise fine. Thankfully, this is one that is actually well designed and stable.

The price can be a bit high, but it is Aputure after all. You pay for that name because you know there won't be compromises in the design or quality of the product.
