Box came a bit dinged up but overall good. Paper performed as expected but needed to develop for longer than recommended on spec sheet in D76.

Still learning how to use this paper. Claims to be both OC and red light safe. Some fogging with the OC filter. Needs about one additional filter number to get the desired contrast I used to get with other papers. Appears that there has been a recent change in the emulsion across several paper suppliers I have used. Better than some recent experiences I have had with other brands. Still a good value for the price.

I tried this photopaper in the lab and outside in the sun. I am very pleased with my results: clarity, development times and other important factors exceeded my results. Good paper, I need more!

An economical paper. Good DMax. Decent highlights. Works well with split grade printing and also works well with Polyphenol developers. And reasonably priced as well.

Make the most of your black and white photography with the Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC Paper, meticulously crafted to deliver exceptional contrast control and tonal range. This 5x7 inch pearl surface paper comes in a generous pack of 250 sheets, ensuring you have ample supply for your photographic projects.
The Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC is a high-quality, variable contrast (VC), resin-coated (RC) paper, designed for enlargements that demand precision and clarity. Its medium weight and polyethylene-coated base provide durability and a professional finish. The pearl surface offers a unique sheen that adds depth and texture to your prints, standing out among the available Glossy and Semi-Matte options.
Contrast Control is a standout feature of this paper, allowing for seamless adjustments from soft to hard grades (0 through 5) using standard yellow and magenta colored filters. Compatible with Ilford Multigrade or Kodak Polymax/Polycontrast filter systems, this paper gives you the flexibility to achieve the exact look you desire for each image. An enlarger color head can also be utilized for fine-tuning the contrast by adjusting the magenta or yellow filters.
The Exposure Guide for the Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC is straightforward, optimized for tungsten or tungsten quartz halogen light sources. While other light sources can be used, they may alter the contrast values, so it's important to note the compatibility for optimal results. The paper maintains a consistent speed rating (ISO P200) across grades 00 to 3.5, while grades 4 to 5 may require a longer exposure time.
Handling & Safelights are crucial in the darkroom. This paper should be used in a photographic darkroom with standard OC, red, or sodium vapor safelights, ensuring that the bulbs do not exceed 15 watts and are positioned at least 3 feet away from the paper. Minimizing exposure to safelights is recommended to prevent any fogging, which can be managed by adjusting the safelight intensity or placement.
Processing the Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC is versatile, suitable for both tray and roller transport processing machines. Note that activation/stabilization processing is not compatible with this paper. For Development, any standard black and white photographic paper developer can be used, with a typical development time of 60 to 90 seconds at 68°F (20°C), following the developer manufacturer's guidelines.
The Stop Bath & Fixing process is straightforward, with a standard stop bath recommended for at least 10 seconds at temperatures between 65°F and 75°F (18°C to 24°C). Plain water can be substituted if refreshed regularly. Fixing should be done in a standard solution, with a typical fix time of 2 to 5 minutes at 68°F (20°C).
Washing the fixed prints should be thorough, with a running water wash for 3 to 4 minutes. Avoid using hypo clearing agents or hypo eliminators to maintain the integrity of the print.
Storage of the Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC Paper should be in a cool, dry place. For extended storage, a freezer can be used, but allow the paper to warm up adequately before use and prevent condensation. Keep the paper away from harmful vapors and gases, and always return unused sheets to their original packaging.
With the Arista.EDU Ultra VC RC Paper, you can expect professional-grade results, consistent performance, and the ability to bring your black and white photography to life with exquisite detail and a broad tonal range.
