Plastic Canister/weird advance

I finally got to run a roll through my Canon IID2 rangefinder and found the film advance very crunchy and resistant. I'm also not thrilled about these plastic canisters.

Arista OK, but not Kodak

Kodak is best but twice the price. This stuff is about ASA 200, not 400, it also needs more than the indicated development time. Trial and error will tell how much to over expose and develop. You can get good results

Arista is Difficult

OK but not Kodak. Certainly not ASA 400, 250 tops. Also 14 minutes at 68 F. is still flat with D76 1:1. The best thing is the price, and that unlike 120 Arista which curls, this stuff stays flat.

Amazing Film - Great Quality!

The photos came out looking really crisp (minus a couple I overexposed) and the affordability of this black and white film vs. color film is awesome. Would recommend!

Great stuff, even for non-students

It?s rebranded Fomapan 400, so it inherits all its forebear?s qualities.

Quality product at a reasonable price!

Exactly was I needed! Taking a black and white film developing course this semester and this was on the required materials list.

Ordered 3 rolls. One defective. The film tab was inside the canister so could not be used.

Dreany

Love the grainy, dreamy quality of this stock. I picked it up since so many people compared it to the old school Kodak Tri-X. Seems to halate more (could just be my lens), but was definitely very pleasing. If you're looking for pristine and grain free then move on. If you like some character, contrast, grain, and maybe some dreaminess (depending on your lens) then have at it.

Ol' reliable. Nice contrasty b&w images, classic film look. Great price easy to find even in a drought. Can't go wrong with this film.

Great film

I have recently purchased the bulk film. It has worked very well, and is a lot cheaper than buying individual rolls. Would recommend this object.

Good but fragile

Workable discount film with a decent range of tones. Scratches SUPER easily in development and while handling. The emulsion is thin.

Great film for bulk loading! I've had great results from Arista branded film in the past and am excited to see what this higher ISO 400 film can do.

Become a master of monochrome photography with the Arista.EDU Ultra 400 B&W Negative Film. This high-quality, 35mm roll film offers 24 exposures, perfect for capturing life's moments in stunning black and white. With an ISO of 400, this film is incredibly versatile, performing well in a variety of lighting conditions, from bright sunlight to dimly lit interiors.

Crafted for durability and ease of use, the Arista.EDU Ultra 400 film is compatible with all major black and white film processing systems. Whether you're a seasoned professional or a passionate hobbyist, this film's consistent performance and affordable price point make it an excellent choice for your photographic needs.

Developing this film is straightforward, with recommended times provided for normal contrast negatives based on intermittent agitation. All times are standardized at a temperature of 68 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius), ensuring reliable results. The film is adaptable to a range of developers, including Arista 76 Powder, Arista Premium Powder, Arista Liquid Film Developer, Marathon Film Developer, Ilford ID-11, Kodak D-76, Kodak XTOL, Kodak TMAX Developer, Kodak HC 110, and Agfa Rodinal, with specific dilutions and times detailed for each.

For optimal development, agitate continuously for the first 30 seconds, followed by 5 to 7 inversion cycles every 30 seconds for the remainder of the development time. If using a rotary processor, reduce the developing times by 15% to account for continuous agitation. Keep in mind that development times may need adjusting to suit individual processing systems and practices.

Choose Arista.EDU Ultra 400 B&W Negative Film for its exceptional quality and flexibility, and let it be the canvas for your photographic artistry in black and white.
