Shopper : do need to use the lens with light?JORDAN S : You do not necessarily need a lens depending on the beam spread and focus you require, however it would be highly advised to have lenses since most gaffers will request them. Bear in mind that for safe operation and UV protection you would be well served using a lens because the light will give off dangerous amounts of UV and if the bulb explodes (which does happen) it will be violent and possibly catch fire so a full scrim at minimum should be used for protection.
